Can anybody help me find a guide to the classic roads used by the Monte Carlo rally. Planning a trip to that part of the world this summer and it would be a crime not to try and take in some of those roads. thank you.

Richard, I'm afraid I can be of no help whatsoever!

I am however envious of the prospect of your trip. I'm sure you will get some helpful and constructive tips. Enjoy it... and do let us know about it on your return.

Hi Richard
I also can be of no help whatsoever with regard to actual Monte Carlo rally roads/routes, however in a fortnight's time my wife and I are setting off in the Boxster S for a three week holiday to Italy (~ 20 miles south of Rome) via French Alps outbound and Italian/Swiss Alps inbound, and I must say I'm getting pretty exited about it!!
Regards
Alan Burton

I did manage to find some helpfull information in the end. Happy driving.

At least it gives the "Col d' Turini's" location, villages etc.

Cheers Richard.

Hi Richard, not sure about the rally stages and roads, but what I would high recomend as your in that area, probably on your way home is the Route Napoleon. It's almost as if it was built for the Boxster, my wife said that I had a permanent grin on my face !!
Take the D-85 from Cannes to Grasse then up to Gap via Digne-les-Bains, make sure you always have plenty of fuel we found out much to our suprise how early the French petrol stations close and we were cruising around Gap on fumes!. If you look up the route on via-Michelin you will see the routing. I did this last year on my way home cant wait to do the run again but into Monaco this time.
Enjoy your time down in that part of the world, and I'm sure you wont forget to have blat throught the Monaco tunnel underneath Fairmont Hotel (was the Monaco Grand a couple of years ago) Think they have speed camera in the tunnel [;)], but even still drop the hood and enjoy the Porsche sound .... cheers Mike

Hi Richard, Has your Boxster really got a 3.6L 997 engine installed in it, or am misreading your car details at the bottom your threads !!![:-] cheers Mike

Hi Mike,
Yes I put it in 50'000 miles ago. It took nine trips to Germany and over 18 months of trail and error to get to that point, a real king size head ache I can tell you !!

Saying that she was clocked at 0-62 in 5 seconds , ( wheel spin being the limiting factor) and hit 124mph in 15 seconds. So far the quickest we've been was a mind focusing 178mph, but it's the mountain roads where she really excells. Just incredable traction and power, oh what a joy...." To the Mountains."

Cheers Richard.
