Hi All

Just a reminder that the August Monthly Meeting will NOT be held at Garstang Golf Club. Instead we will be joining Kirkby Lonsdale Motor Club at their Car Park Concours at Heaves Hotel, Levens, Nr Kendal.

Please arrive by 7.00pm to allow time to judge each others cars.

"KLMC's Evening Concours is a lighthearted concours where the participants judge the cars themselves. Although the top few cars at this event are usually absolutely spotless, the majority are not. The emphasis is on polishing it up and having a go, and making a fun evening of it. There's a hot pot supper (with vegetarian option) included in the entry fee and the food is served while the judges are going hungry working out the results.

The Evening Concours is a public event in that anyone can wander round the car park, but it is aimed squarely at the participants rather than the onlookers. Anyone can be a participant "" any non-KLMC member gets made into a temporary member for the night. Entry costs £7.50 per car, of which £1 goes to the club and the rest pays for the food, so entrants' family and friends can eat too, at £6.50 per head.

The event is publicized to neighbouring car clubs and to some one-make clubs, and usually attracts a very wide selection of cars of all ages, typically over 50 entries.

The list of classes is shown below and is pretty self-explanatory. Everyone gets put into either class 1 or 2, and into the appropriate age class. All the other classes are optional, the entrant decides.

Class 1: Best Saloon
Class 2: Best Sports /GT
Best Pre '73
Best '73 - '92
Best Post '92
Best Customised/Modified
Best Porsche
Best Exterior
Best Interior
Best Engine Compartment
Most Faithful Servant (a fun award, best balance between condition and mileage, can be won by a complete heap if the mileage is sufficiently astronomic. Placards explaining history welcome)

In addition there is an award presented by the landlord to the owner of the car he most covets"¦
Landlord's Trophy

Last but not least there are three awards which are not voted by the participants but by the judges"¦
Best Jaguar/Daimler "" the Joe Eldeen Award
Most Original Car
Car of the Show

This is always a fun event, so please join in and make the most of it. There are no space constraints and the venue is set in stunning Cumbria countryside on a private estate, so the more entries the merrier!"

Please let me know if you are planning to attend so that I can let Heaves Hotel know to help catering arrangements[FONT=verdana, geneva"]
