Monthly Meeting - SATURDAY 7 November BBQ & Firworks

Following the now familiar format of the last few years, R10 is once again hosting its Winter BBQ and Fireworks Night at Manor Farm, Hanslope - this year on Saturday 7 November[:)].

Manor Farm in Hanslope is home to farmer Robert Beesley, and it is sufficiently remote from built up areas to avoid disturbing the neighbours (though the chaps at the secret squirrel MOD base at Hanslope Park probably get a bit twitchy). Directions - take Park Road out of Hanslope village, then at the t-junction with Hanslope Park more or less opposite, turn right, go a few hundred yards along and the farm driveway is on the right. If you overshoot you get to Bullington End, then Haversham. As it is very dark round there I'll try to remember to put up a few 'tell tales' (Club bunting, or a glow stick or something...)

The annual R10 fireworks evenings, involving a quite formidable pyrotechnic display [8|] courtesy of our members' combined purchasing power as each attendee is asked to bring along a single firework "" typically these days a huge rocket (missile?), mortar "˜cake', or Roman candle "" turning a small contribution into a magnificent display.

The plan is that we bring along a catering-size gas bbq/griddle, and all you do is bring the food to be cooked. The bbq is held in a barn, so inclement weather should not defeat us. Bring a chair, a torch and wellingtons! With luck if Robert has any spare wood we'll get a small bonfire going too !

It all starts at 5.30pm, with fireworks at 6.30pm; so you should still be able to get there after your day's shopping or watching the kids' sports activities in the day.

The evening is open to members and their families, neighbours and friends. It's on a farm which can be muddy [8D], so don't worry about bringing your Porsche along if you're worried about it "" just you turning up is what we need. But don't forget the firework. [;)]

Please remember this is a working farm (though not much will be happening on a Saturday evening) and there are some hazards around that will mean small children should be supervised for their own safety.

Email me at R10@porscheclubgb.com if you have any queries. See you all there.

Weather has clearly turned more winter-like since the clocks went back, but I would still hope that we can hold this Saturday's BBQ/fireworks event [:)] - unless it is torrential rain (the fireworks won't light[8|]). Keep an eye on this post for weather updates, but assume it is going ahead.

Have just bought a couple of monster fireworks (probably banned under some non-proliferation treaty) so I hope it's on!

Saturday looks clear (ish), so let's all cross our fingers.[:)]

I think a bit of paraffin, petrol or Red Diesel may induce a good bonfire too[:D][8|]!!!

Some of my firework photos came out OK. I'll leave the group shot for Porsche Post.

Thanks again for organising, Mike.
