Don't forget, the Monthly Meeting for July has moved to The Swan Inn, in Milton Keynes Village (AKA "Middleton"), to avoid the Silverstone F1 traffic.

Full address is: Broughton Road, Milton Keynes Village, Buckinghamshire MK10 9AH

See you there, 6.30 - 8.30 pm.[:)]

Cheers

PM ? for some reason...I thought the POTM was at lunchtime ?

Ho Hum..at least one logistical problem just got solved !

Steve,

I guess you're right about the POTM - except THIS is the monthly meeting.

Regards

Dave

The POTM idea was originally to be a WEEKDAY EVENING, not a Sunday lunchtime - otherwise it fails to acheive its objective => attracting R10 members who for whatever reason can't make weekends. Just because there is a core of members who can make weekend meetings doesn't mean that it is fair on the others to have ALL regional meetings at weekends; I was trying to redress the balance! As I can't offer to organise weekday meetings (due to work commitments) I was hoping that SOMEBODY would take up the challenge.........

One day.......[8|]

[Any thoughts / comments / offers to help welcome]

As you will appreciate, with 350 members in our Region, I would be failing as RO (and removed by Bob!) if I simply took the attitude "my mates are there on a Sunday, so that's okay then...". I believe that the "weekend" regulars are well served (no doubt others disagree, but this is not a business, it is a hobby for everyone) - I have no objection to there being even more choice, but the campaign I started in January PP was to get a regular weekday event going to encourage new participants. We have spent a VERY long time trying to get more members along to meetings - one barrier is probably the weekend meeting (some Regions thrive on weekday evening meetings; in a survey of our members I did in 03, some , but by no means a majority, also flagged this as an issue for them) another may be the venue. We have moved a few times in the past 7 years, it has had an impact - the Navi is by far the most popular as a regular venue (we do get on-offs that go well too).

Yes, by all means we can have a POTM at a weekend (I'll probably go to them myself), but this was not what was "agreed" at our November 04 meeting. However, I must continue to champion the benefits of active participation in the Region to the silent majority.

Re Weston Underwood - I had made SEVERAL requests to have this as a weekday event......I can do no more......[8|]

Re: Lack of take up....again, I keep seeking help....I can do no more.... I would be more than happy to hand on my "temporary" RO role to someone with more energy and insight as to get 300+ members a little more active!

Like all club's we are never going to appeal to all (eg Xmas party), but we have to keep trying or risk 300+ people not renewing membership at the end of their year....! [:(]

Sorry to be so serious Sue, but I think your comments are probably shared by several of the regulars and the counter position needed rationalising (hopefully I have).

Look forward to the debate this kicks off.!!![:)]

Sundays not always good for me (like this one coming). Sometimes you are just into something else on a Sunday; gardening, last-minute barbeque, latest 'Prime Suspect', or you've been out at an event all day and just want to get the kids home to bed for school on Monday or whatever. So a midweek meet could take off. Only one way to find out, someone has just got to go for it and see what happens. I will be that guy if no-one else wants to give it a go. Here's my first suggestion:

TIPEC have a meet at the Green Man on the eastbound A43 near Silverstone once a month. It's a big pub, plenty of parking and lots of space inside. So easy to find it's untrue. Not far from Northampton or MK or Banbury/Bicester/Brackley/Daventry..

I'd be up for getting together with some other Porschistas at the Green Man one month to start off maybe some kind of a regular mid-week mid-month run out? Say the second Wednesday of every month? Scaled down in the winter if that's the way it works out.

TIPEC meet is the fourth Wednesday so don't want to bang into that one, though who knows, we might be able to join forces there once or twice a year, why not.

Maybe we could start at the easily-accessible Green Man first time out and then move it about the county if it takes off. No banners, no guest speakers, no presentations, just decent coffee, decent cheeseburgers (if you're lucky) and hopefully decent Porsche chat.

Anyone fancy it?

Some if you may be aware that all the custom car fanatics in MK meet on a Sunday night by the hockey stadium during the summer months. Last weekend there were literally hundreds of cars there, amongst the wide arched Nova's and Peugeots there were also some well prepared Skylines, American muscle cars etc.

Anyone fancy a small Porsche convoy over there after a shandy or two in the Swan ?

Last weekend there were literally hundreds of cars there, amongst the wide arched Nova's and Peugeots there were ........

Are these guys allowed out after 9.00pm?????.[8|]

More seriously, sound like it could be fun to turn up in a group....though the lack of undercar lighting or a 1,000 W stereo might be a turn-off for them. [;)]

Forget the monthly meetings I know where I am going to spend my Sunday evenings from now on. The sound of drum and bass, the smell of over rich carbs and 100's of teenage girls wearing belts for skirts - yes I am going to the Salvation Army meeting in future.

For those that missed Sunday by the hockey stadium it is well worth a visit - everyone was really friendly and there were some great cars there.

Steve are you gonna post any of your piccies from the night ?

I'll go down there with you one night, if there's yank tanks then it's right up my street. Couldn't do Sunday thanks to the GP - I'm the wrong side of the A43!
