On the web site, there still seems to be a reference to our old meetings at the Trumpet. I must emphasise, especially to new members, that this is not current. The Trumpet has changed hands and is not suitable anymore for a club meeting. We are endeavouring to get this entry corrected.

At our May meeting, I counted twelve Porsches in the car park, including my 944, so keep on coming.
We were all pleased to welcome new member Robert Teague, with a nice 911 3.2, also Phil and Lynne Edwards whom we look forward to being more mainstay friends.

When you get this copy of PP, there should just be time for you to decide to join us for our Show Night on the 30th June. N.B. I made a mistake with the date last month. There will be competitions for choice of air and water cooled Porsches, as well as for our visitors. As in previous years, I expect a good variety of other exotic and interesting cars to join us. We have use of the Bistro room as well as pork rolls to fill that empty hole. The new management are keen to join in our show and we shall have use of the adjacent field as before, for our display. Most of this, arranged by our rarely seen, but good member, Will Gough.

Earlier in the month, Curborough proved to be another success, after a slow start in signing on. This year I did restrict the numbers with slight leniency, after requests last year. Everyone enjoyed themselves, although there were one or two concerns about queuing, which I will put to rights, next year. A short letter of thanks was sent to Dave Pattison and Andrew Kenyon for their efforts. Most of us brought picnic lunches and following this, I noticed that Joan had disappeared. Somebody said "Oh, she's in that car on the track". Apparently, she had got fed up with watching and was scrounging rides in different cars. I believe twelve in all ! So to save face, I had to have a few goes myself. Such is the need to retain equality. We raised £270 for the Air Ambulance, making a total over the last three years of £835 in total. I shall arrange for this to be paid shortly so they can have advantage of the money.
We will be visiting them on October the 4th at 10:30 am , in conjunction with a visit to the Midlands Breakfast Club, for which I shall be arranging a booking.
There is a restriction on numbers to the Air Ambulance station, which will be reserved for Curborough participants, on a first come first served basis but the Breakfast meet is open to PCGB Members. Please let me know if you wish to join us so I can reserve enough spaces for us.

Friday the 22nd, saw some of us, with many other members, on the maiden voyage of the "˜new', that is latest ferry from Liverpool to the Isle of Man. A 96ft long catameran, refurbished from the navy and now operating with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Service This takes an enormous amount of vehicles and is driven by four massive aquajets. An absolute fast and steady ride was enjoyed by all, both outgoing and coming back. The Mount Murray was up to it's usual efficient service although we "˜old timers' missed the crinkle chips which have descended to normal crisps. I suppose by a change of chef. Saturday's dawn raid was faced with almost total mist. I got up at 5.30 am, looked out of the window, and went back to bed. A few keen types, tried it and I think most new visitors went for the "˜knowledge'.
Sunday was a cracking day, adrenaline was satisfied, many tales of how fast "˜I' went and we all stopped safely at Creg ne Bar for a calm ride back for breakfast. We were lucky that there was a later Cycle run around the TT Course, the police were already on duty at all cross roads, lights etc., and they held up the traffic whilst we made our way round the island. So thanks to them and for not, as far as I know, setting up speed traps this year.

I have also arranged a Canoeing trip with Graham Howles and the date is Sunday 16th August. Please read last month's issue of PP, for details, to avoid the editor having a heart attack with too much repetition. Make sure you get your bookings in with me in good time, so arrangements can be made.

The Vintage Sports Car Club is celebrating their 75th Anniversary this year and their main event is to be held at the Malvern Show Grounds on Saturday the 8th of August. We are invited to attend and I am looking for a set of older Porsches, 356's and 911's so we can put on a display in the spirit of the event and also become part of their celebration of sports cars through the ages. This will be a great family event and there will be no charge for participants. The VSCC, is one of the earliest Clubs to set up in this country and an encouragement to all who followed. Let us put in our effort to support. Remember, Porsche design, goes right back to 1905 with the Loehner Porsche electric driven, four wheel drive fire trucks. That puts the Porsche name in the London to Brighton Run period, so surely we above many, deserve a place.

Forthcoming Events.
