The weekend after our drive and pub lunch (see separate post) is potentially a busy one. On both days, the now famous Kop Hill Climb up the road in Princes Risborough takes place.

Kop Hill Climb is just over 1000 metres to the summit, rises by 100 metres and has gentle bends. It starts with a gradual slope and is 1 in 6 at the half way mark. The road then eases off before it gets even steeper at 1 in 4 just before the summit. The finish of the run is before the summit to allow vehicles to slow down. From start to finish the run is 860 metres.

It's an historic motorsport event that attracts an interesting range of entrants, from the ancient to modern supercars, and the reports are that it's an excellent spectacle. The website is here http://www.kophillclimb.org.uk/, tickets are available to order online at £8.75 (or go in one car, £10 for the first occupant and £5 for everyone else - on the day) and the venue is here:

Kop Hill Road
PRINCES RISBOROUGH
HP27 0LB
Map reference OS sheet 165 815030.

And on Sunday 25th September, it's the 911 & Porsche World Picnic at Windsor Racecourse. Fingers crossed it won't be as bitingly cold and windy as the 2010 event, as traditionally these have always been pleasant late summer days in the past. Further details are here http://www.911porscheworld.com/mepasite/291/Porsche_Picnic.aspx. Autojumble bargains are a possibility...

As things stand I will be in Wales on the weekend in question and so unable to attend either event. So I'm looking for volunteers to co-ordinate a R19 convoy should there be any interest. Do you fancy it John?

Cheers

James

Chiltern Region 21 has a stand at the Saturday 24th September 2011 running of the Kop Hill Climb, The Porsche Club Region 21 stand will be situated in the Paddock area. You need to go on the Website at the above address for the forms and send off the covering form with a cheque for £15 for the Porsche car and two people. If you do book to go, contact r21@porscheclubgb.com to let us know, thanks.
Does Thames Valley have a stand at the 911 & Porsche World picnic at Windsor racecourse on the 25th September?

Robin - re 911PW picnic - no stand as such but if we can drum up some support for the event (come on R19!) we will probably meet somewhere before convoying over and parking as a group.

I'll be going to the 911PW picnic in Windsor. I'm happy to meet up beforehand and drive down as a group as suggested.

If poss. can we meet up somewhere en route to Windsor thus ensuring we can park together at venue.

OK everyone, here's the plan.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]We have a few takers for this weekend's events, but due to a house viewing tomorow afternoon (I'm selling my house) unfortunately I can't now make the Kop Hillclimb. [FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]However, all is set for the 911 and Porsche World picnic on Sunday. Last year we met at the Esso filling station on the A308 Braywick Road southbound (just up from the A308/A308(M)/Ascot Road roundabout and along from the Emperor of India restaurant), and I'm sure it'll do again. Here's a map link. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?rlz=1T4SNYJ_enGB315GB315&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=windsor+race+course&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=race+course&hnear=0x48767a0c48323997:0x4a6d76d3ed7d32b6,Windsor,+Windsor+and+Maidenhead&cid=0,0,9956699465873044701&ei=dlp8Tpq9E4ay0QXUp7D2Dw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=8&ved=0CBwQnwIwBw The racecourse opens at 10am, but we don't need to be the first people there so I suggest we meet at a civilised 10.15am and head on over at 10.30. It's only a few minutes drive. [FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Bring a picnic, something to sit on, your sunglasses and your sunblock, as it's supposed to be a beautiful day. And remember your entry fee of £7 a person.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]Hope to see lots of you there. There are unlikely to be many other opportunities to enjoy the warm sun this year, so it's best to take advantage now or repent over the long winter ahead![FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]John B - are you coming?[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Kop hill was great yesterday, lovely laid back atmosphere and so many works of engineering art. High light was Barry Williams giving it plenty up the hill [:D]. I'm off to make the most of early morning Sunday roads and aim to get back to Windsor for 10 ish, might pop over to Kop Hill for the afternoon runs to finish off a great petrol head weekend. See you there.
