More power for my 944 turbo

The big assumption I'm making here is that everything else is 100% - I guess you'll want to check for vac leaks, make sure the ignition system is good, etc...
I would have thought the cheapest route was Tial DPW, manual boost controller (and proper boost gauge [
You'll get a big increase in mid range torque, boost coming in earlier, so even if the car doesn't make massively increased headline numbers, it'll be much quicker on the road.
With the current exchange rate, it's very cost-effective to buy parts from the US - IIRC someone on the forum got a good deal from Speed force racing recently on the Tial & adapter plate.

I want to increase the power to 280-300 hp.Whats the best route to take to acheive this, and how much is this going to cost!
Disgraceful behaviour [
If you replace the wastegate with one that can hold higher boost, you also need a set of chips and uprated fuel pressure regulator so that you do not run lean and damage the engine.
Promax do a level 2 kit which provides everything you need in a box for £799 with UK support and fitting if you need it http://www.promaxmotorsport.com/promaxkit2.htm
www.RPMPorsche.co.uk and www.JMGarage.com will do the same thing using different parts but they don't have a menu pricing website
Alternatively you can mix and match some seperate components from the US to achieve the same thing for less because of teh current excellent exchange rate:
TiAL 38mm wastegate from www.speedforceracing.com $269 US
951MAX level III chips from http://www.maxhpkit.com/ $250 US
Dual Port wastegate from www.lindseyracing.com $419 US
Just noticed that Lindsey now sell the MAXhp chips too so you can get a package from them.
Check out Rick Cannells website spreadsheet for a huge amount of data from our independant testing at several 944 Dyno Days all on the same rolling road at WRC Silverstone:

...but oh so much fun[
Speaking as someone who has now caught the tuning bug badly with my 944t - and that's after only 2 months!!
Lindsey Racing do kits too, as Paul says and the one fitted to mine seems to do what it says on the tin - slightly more boost and power/torque, arriving earlier down the rev range = quicker in the real world than before and easier to drive... ..'ish![
The tuning bug is only limited by the depth of your pockets, I've found[8|]

Just as an aside my first step was to replace the wastegate for a DPW and set the max boost to stock and on the Welmiester rollers I got 240bhp so the difference between a SPW and a DPW with everything else being equal (i.e. stock) is 20bhp. Sort of stokes the fire for the conspiracy theorists.

To start with i just need to replace the wastegate. Can i run the tial wastegate with out any other mods,or do i need to use chips as well.
Thanks for the advise.
Andrew.
Hi Andrew,
You can use the wastegate without further modification (at 0.7bar if you retain the overboost protect functionality). However, to get the most out of it, it is advisable to use suitably mapped software (essentially the DME EPROM in the ECU), a 3.0 bar FPR (Fuel Pressure Regulator) to replace the standard 2.5 bar unit and a suitable boost controller. An EBC (Electronic Boost Controller) is a better option than an MBC (Manual Boost Controller) and will allow you to hold your desired boost setting to the redline. With 1.0 bar (~15psi), expect to see about 280bhp - 300bhp, up to 1.2 bar, you may see up to 310-320bhp. All depends on the health of your engine, integrity of your vacuum circuit and whether your bypass valve can hold boost; a piston type is a better solution (as per 993 Turbo, Bailey DV30 or BoostSciences).
All the above extra mods will give you a lot more performance and maximise your wastegate upgrade for not much extra cost. Use the best fuel you can lay your hands on (Tesco 99, Shell Optimax or BP Ultimate) and enjoy going a little faster ;-)
Regards,
Andrew

I recently purchased a Tial 38mm wastegate with adapter kit from Speedforce Racing in the US - £230 inc shipping and duty.
Maxhpkit chipset, 3 bar fpr, and MBC from Lindsey racing - £220 inc
Planning on fitting over the next month or so then back on the dyno all being well April.
