Well the inclement weather turned up in Morecambe again!
A stunning array of four cars turned up in Bradford for the start of the run. Geoff, Paul and Jane, John and Danny, Chris and Linda set off in near arctic temperatures and pouring rain to make the attempt on Kirby in Lonsdale. We all got there safely after passing plod in a 'safety' van at 67mph in a 60 limit. We are all now looking forward to our fines and speed awareness courses.
Bladders bursting we visited the local conveniences only to find that they are now 20 p!!!.
A throbbing sphincter muscle forced Chris to stump up a 20 p coin and we all made use of the facilities by cunningly holding the door ajar for each other. Elated at having saved 60p we had a quick drink and bacon sarnie before setting off for Morecambe. We arrived there in utterly torrential rain and gale force winds to find the prom devoid of cars but found out that the normal parking area had changed. We drove to the Winter Gardens to find an impressive display of at least six other classic cars with occupants in various states of sogginess.
Killing time with a walk on the prom meant that we arrived back at the Midland frozen stiff and drenched through to our y fronts.
A visit to the bar soon sorted us out and then we enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea. Seeing as only half the people had turned up I had about 25 sandwiches, 14 scones, 12 pieces of cake and 4 gallons of tea. We also took doggie bags which will do my pack ups for a week..
We left the Midland at about 4.00 pm to be greeted by brilliant sunshine. Another walk on the prom soon had our y fronts dry again.
All in all we had a great day and a good laugh. I am sure that the weather will be better for next years run!!!
