MOT advisories

Hi everyone,
[:)]pleased to say my 986.2 passed the MOT today, the first in my ownership. One strange advisory that I’ve never seen before: " reg plate lamp throwing direct white light to the rear n/s rear " and the same to o/s rear.
It looks like the previous owner perhaps changed the rear reg plate lights to led’s, but I am wondering should they have hoods or cowls over them? Anyone have any advice on this?
The other more important advisory, which seems quite a common one was: " brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material "
Is this just a general advisory? Ie when there is a lot of grease or gunk and they can’t really see the pipe condition ....
I‘d best get them checked anyway...

I can't comment on the number plate lights but my 987 regularly had a similar comment regarding the oil pipes. My Indi only replaced them when they felt their integrity was compromised.

Hi, I had the "brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material" on a number MoTs for my 2003 986, knowing at some point they would need changing.
This year although it passed the MoT, I got my indi to remove the covers under the car and check the whole lines - which were in very poor condition, with no argument about getting them changed.
Luckily they didn't need to drop the engine / gearbox to do this, so not that expensive.

Thanks Phil, that will be the best course of action. I have a corroded air con pipe under there too which I may need to get replaced, although I was surprised to be quoted over £300 for one ??
