MOT check puzzle........

Have seen an S.2 for sale with the reg. no. G588OVE. Ran the MOT history check as you do, but it came back 'No vehicle that matched the data you entered could be found'

Strange I thought, so I contacted the vendor who then sent me a screen shot from the DVLA site showing the reg. no. and the current status - tax expired 1st June, MOT due 7 July '16, but no further past info was visible.

I'm confused[&:]....can anyone advise?

I just carried out a check ( Bit Bored at work) I note it is a Black 944 first reg 20 March 1990
MOT Expires 07/07/2016
Tax due 01/06/2016

Hope this helps

Patrick

It does the same for me - no vehicle found. I wondered if it was a zero on their system not an O but that came back with the same message. A mystery!

Don't know if it the same problem but the DVLA have had issues with MOT's not updating my BMW went in for service the dealer called to say MOT had expired, but it had been done 2 months prior
I called DVLA helpline and they explained the issue and told be to carry a copy because the data the police use would also be incorrect

I wonder if that plate got lost in translation. You're right that a V plate can't be on a 1989 car but the Ebay ad shows it starts G. I could see G & V getting passed on wrongly verbally and G803VJB does come up on the Mot History check as a 944.

I say Holmes, fine piece of deduction dear boy. I couldn't see a 'G' in the advert and I was given the registration in writing rather than verbally. However if you substitute the 'V' for 'G', the mileage and colour do indeed seem to tally.
