MOT Failure - Hurrah!!

Well sort of [;)]

The car flew through the MOT apart from a pin hole in the centre pipe housing the cat.

Alledgedly, it could last another year or even 2 but I think failure is imminent (or at least that's my excuse to the better half [;)] ) so I'm looking to fit a new centre pipe and backbox.

Obviously, as I have to do this anyway, I may as well put a Janspeed / ESS system on and wondered... Where is the best place to buy the kit ESS or Design 911 or elsewhere ?

I think they are the same price from either supplier, but I would say get it from ESS. Simon is a club member and it was he that developed the exhaust with Janspeed using a couple of members cars. If you keep an eye on his website he often has them on special offer so it could well be cheaper than Design911.

If your back box is ok then his cat section is fully compatible (you just want a big shiny thing at the rear don't you [;)] )

Paul, the back boxes are the same price but not so sure about the decat pipe - Design 911 seem to have one for £110 + VAT as apposed to £185 + the dreaded but I'm not sure if they are comparable.

As for wanting the big shiny thing - too right [:D] but I also want to give the car a bit more of a burble as it's v quiet at the moment

The ESS one retains a box where the cat was, Janspeed tried it on the rolling road, with/without and it was better with,

The ESS/Janspeed system is only a couple of dBs more than the standard exhaust. This was deliberate, as I understand, to ensure users weren't thrown off track days for being over 98dB A. It does give a different sound to the original though and tends to retain unburnt fuel in the rear dustbin section for additional off boost flame effects. [:)]

What ESS don't mention is that you need to check for small mamals and Chavs asleep in the end pipe before starting the car.

:ROFLMAO: That is a serious looking peice of kit. Do you have a vid clip of the car running John, so I can hear it, as the ESS site only has clips of the twin pipe one ?

Unfortunately the turbo cars don't should as good as n/a due to the, emmm turbo getting in the way. Atleast the turbo has its compensations.
Your S2 will sound good. I went with the 6x4 and it doesnt look that big when viewed in context. It fills the space nicely. I think its slightly louder than the twin pipe, if i remember correctly.

Right, that's sorted. Simon did me a really good price for the set - Oh Yes, I chucked the induction kit in for good measure as well [] [:D]

Roll on Friday so I can get it all fitted[8D]

Glad that 6x4 doesn't look too big when in - looks bl**dy big on the tape measure :ROFLMAO:
