MOT? No problem.

With a little trepidation, I took the S2 down to my local MOT station this morning. It passed with no advisories and lots of 'that's a really nice clean car'.

I took the opportunity to have a good nose around whilst it was on the lift - the MOT guy even loaned me his inspection lamp. Despite giving the car a good going over when I bought it 6 months ago, there's no substitute for standing underneath it. It's very clean and showing none of the usual symptoms. I'd hoped not cos the previous 2 owners had maintained it very well and all the expensive stuff has been done. According to the bills I got with car, the previous owner meticulously had the underside inspected each year and the waxoyl reapplied where it needed it, mainly on the jacking points. Now I know where it needs it, I'll be sorting that out this afternoon.

So after 6 months I've hardly touched the money I put aside for running costs. The biggest cost so far being the 12K service. Yes I could have done it myself, but I wanted to keep the service records to the same level the car had been used to. Besides, the fixed price menu for older cars that Porsche provide isn't that much if there's nothing else needs doing. Maybe I should spend some of the cash on that club sport steering wheel.
 
Good stuff Dave. Mine has only failed one MOT in all the time i've had it, which was the first one I put it through for a corroded brake line. £60 later it was all fixed with a new MOT. Can't grumble with that. Testiment to a very well built car.
 
Good news Dave, Like Scott mine failed the first mot (same reason!), then 5 consecutive passes.

nice when they sail through isn't it.

I noticed the previous owner of my S2 had painted all the brake and fuel lines with a waxoil type protective coating. REally worth doing as I've just had to fork out £100.00 to drop the tank and repair the brake line on my Mondy
 
Mine has passed 2 MOTs straight through since I purchased it almost 2 years ago although the 1st one I did spend a lot of money prior to it to make sure it went through OK though.
 
Is it possible to see if there was an advisory sheet with an MOT if you get a new one provided with a car?
Since it's all electronic there must be a database somewhere.

I'd guess that the phrase "there must be a database somewhere" answers the question. [&:]

Either it's been lost whilst left on a laptop in a MacDonalds somewhere, or it's covered by the data protection act and you're not allowed to see it.

I'd guess the only way would be to go to the testing station and offer them a drink. Even so, the advisory forms are very subjective. As in, if you're not sure put it down as an advisory and you'll be covered if the inspector calls.......
