MOT passed again

Evening chaps.
I've done a power of work in the last few weeks on the old girl. Had an advisory last year for OS ball joint play and OS front strut on the way out. Also had a wee bit of corrosion in inner sill at the back. That was sorted when I had a wing sorted and painted and both sides stripped off stone chip, lower front wings fixed.
Got one of those Hamburg Technic ball joint kits, car up on ramp and immediately saw oil leaking from OS front shock. I was confused at first as I thought GAZ gold was gas filled. It is not! Anyway ball joint repair went well, noticed rather crumbly brake back plate which I remembered buying a replacement for. Got car back home and stripped off front struts to go to GAZ for rebuild, £50 quid each was good value. When taking off NS strut noticed ball joint gator split, argh! Anyway not too bad a job when the uprights were off and got that regreased and a new gator on. Ball joint perfect, not bad for 30 years old on a seriously lowered car! Regressed and adjusted both wheel bearings, new front discs, fitted new back plate in time for struts getting sent back. All back together and sailed through MOT. On way home brakes started horrific squealing. Bugger. Had put them on minus shims and with Bosch assembly gel type stuff rather than copper slip. Mistake. Stripped it all down again, dug out old OEM shims and copper slipped pistons, shims and backs of pads. Reassembled and all good. Slightly longer pedal using the shims but brakes good. I need a rest!
Booked in for a full geo on 6th August with our local version of Centre Gravity. Fortunately that was a cancellation or I'd have waited another month! At least I'm not getting my hands dirty this time!
Anyway happy days, always feels good doing a power of work yourself and then skating an MOT.

Well done that man :)

Got my MOT passed Saturday gone after the indicator decided to go on the blink (pun intended) on the way on Friday morning, replaced the indicator assembly with a good used one I had in preparation on Friday evening. Just a couple of advisories, one for the number plate light which is now fixed (dodgy bulb) and another for wear on the inside edge of the O/S front tyre.

Then I looked at the emissions report and realised that may be the cause of my contaminated oil so currently chasing down the cause of the rich mixture.
