MOT Time

Excellent news Phil [:D] It's crazy how we get so worked up about Mot's really, my white one will need doing before it's put back on the road and I've got everything crossed that there won't be anything too major that needs doing this time.

Don't know why I was worried really. I was sort of hoping it would fail so I could justify some £££ to she who knows best. (is that SWKB?) As it is, I'll have to 'lose' the planned expenditure somewhere. I have been following the resto of your 'white one' and I am just amazed at the lengths you are going to. I'm looking forward to seeing it sometime. And as for the SC part of it ...... you nutter! (said in the nicest possible way!) Phil

Glad it passed. 'Tis always a good feeling. My MOT tester is a surly Turkish bloke, who I used for about 6 years. He never really talked to me ... just did the test and grunted. Always looks like he would rather be somewhere else. And I was convinced he didn't like me one bit. Until the first time I showed up with my 944 - blimey, what a change! I could have been his long-lost brother - seat pulled up for me to sit on ... would I like a cup of tea? ... here, it's raining, do I want to bring my car in under-cover while waiting for the test ... Turns out he had a 951 once, many years back, and considers it to be the best car he ever owned. I have offered him a drive each time it has been there, but he has always declined! (It's actually occurred to me that if I ever show up with it in less than MOT-pass-worthy condition, I shall probably be sorely embarassed ... !) Oli.

Well, it is also MOT time for me.

It was booked in for 10am this morning at my local garage.

For no particular reason, I was convinced it would fail, but thought a well presented car may just swing it

So my preparation started yesterday with a wheel wash, 2 x two-bucket bodywash, followed by cleaning the windows and treating all of the black trim and tyres. Looked beautiful (apart from some brown spots that are starting to appear []) - I nearly went somewhere scenic to take some pictures.

And to my amazement (cos it is a 17 year old car, with 149k on the clock, and maintained by me) it passed, with a completely clean sheet.

Just thought I'd share my 944 joy.

Phil
currently loving his 944 (no, not in that way!)

Congratulations, good feeling huh?![:D] I think you are spot on about the car's presentation too - psychology perhaps, but it can make a real difference to peoples expectations
