hi everyone

im not quite sure but the MOT test always leaves me sweaty palmed, and this year was now different. After all the extra things i have done to the car this year i was a little unsure weather the car would get more of a grilling. As it turns out i was worring about nothing and the car sailed through the MOT, to date the car has never failed the test. The big differnce this year apart from the changes was that i felt really protective, even more so than normal, as they where pawing over the car, i could feel my blood presure rising alittle. Since a young lad i have taken my car to the same garage for the MOT and i know the team well but watching as the mechanic sat half in and half out the car not quite sitting on the seat correctly, the sight of this was alittle like a slap in the face, im not sure weather im getting obsessed, what do you think ?
anyway the car passed and thats the important thing.
PS the exhaust was fine not a problem, i was worried about the new lower louder noise but it was fine.

I have used the same garage for my mot for 10 years, and irrespective of whether it is my 928, 924 turbo, lux, ex 944, or my wife's Citroen ax the examiner never sits half in. He treats every car with respect. He is so good I never even had to remind him of the reversed gear pattern of the 931. He took the trouble to look.

Due to a change in the law about the identity of vehicles, the establishing of a vehicles identity, and a proper check on the vin plate being required there is a greater need to 'paw' over the car under the bonnet. Also the examiner has to check for fluid leaks, i.e. petrol and brake fluid, under there too. Whether or not this is a reason for the tester not to bother his ar5e to sit behind the wheel properly, I don't know. I have never seen my tester do it. Does he do the brake effiency test with his left foot?

After, and I do stress after, you get the pass, ask as politely as you can, what the interesting technique of sitting half in is for. If you get a reply which alludes to speed and quickness then you need to rethink the location of you next mot or live with it. I'ts not as if he's bouncing up and down for endless miles is it? Its for about 10 minutes once a year.
