MP3 on upgraded PCM

Hi

Can anyone help?
My April 2005 997 has sat nav supplied before the TMC became available. I have recently had the upgrade to my system so that TCM is working ( and it appears to be very good).

I have been told that now that the system has been upgraded that I can play MP3 type discs on the units cd player (not the multi disc). I have tried ordinary mp3 files, wam files and himat files with no success. Will my system now play these "squashed" format discs or have I been misinformed.

Thanks

Doesn't sound right to me, I'd be very surprided if PCM is MP3 compatible, be nice though as I have a 2006 MY car.

Anybody know for sure ?

Try saving you files as Windows Media Audio (WMA) files, the default in Windows Media Player. Unfortunately music saved in itunes is useless for this purpose and needs to be re-digitised. Saving music at 128kbps means you will get about 15 cd's on one CD-R, makes a multichanger obsolete (presumably why Porsche keep this feature fairly well hidden). Last time I asked my OPC they had no updated PCM instructions.

When you get it working you can access your music through Folder Selection and a bonus is that your CD titles, artist and track details are all displayed. All in all a great facility.

My PCM (MY06) came with TCM & MP3 so I can't be certain your upgrade is meant to give you MP3, however, if it does this should get you started. Good luck
