MPG

Hello all,

I have just worked out the MPG for my first tank of fuel and got back 16.6MPG.
This is mostly town driving.

Is this normal?

Sounds quite heavy to me.

I don't do town driving so very diff to comment directly but I get around 29/30 on a run. That much of a penalty for town use seems high. I struggle to get mine down to 25 when I'm enjoying it!

I'm assuming you're talking imperial mpg and not US?

I have just had the tires blown to the correct pressure. Apparently they are out. will be interesting to see if it makes a difference.

Also driving to London today so will see what it's like then

does seem heavy, doubt getting the tyre pressures will improve it that much. Have you changed the spark plugs, dizzy cap and had the valve clearances checked recently? They might make a difference. Also get the CO2 checked out at idle, if its running rich on idle and you're stuck in traffic alot that won't help the situation

It is due for a service in December so will see how it run after it. Was a year since the last one.

I did drive to London last night from Reading and used an 1/8th of a tank which seems very good. Was driving at 70

Greetings
I use the ol' girl every day and when its stop/start stuff crawling to and from work I get 19/22 mpg ish.
But when I do some motorway miles its 25/28 ! And I don't drive like an old girls blouse either so I'm sort of happy with these figures.
If I was that conscious of, dare I say, being green I would be driving a 500cc diesel some thing or other. Give me high octane 8star any time!
Cheers
Alex
