A few of us in R10 are keen mountain bikers. None of us have a Porsche FS though, so it is a bit off topic - sorry Mr. Moderator - but if anyone is interested in joining us then I' d be happy to arrange a pedal around our local woods for a couple of hours one weekend.

Alternatively if other regions have similar then our small group might be prepared to travel.

Well obviously I' m just itching to delete this thread but as I am interested I' ll let it pass. [:D]

I can probably only do Sat/Sun mornings or Weekday evenings apart from Tue/Wed.

Cheers

Andy

I can oft be found in the Brickhill woods on a Saturday or Sunday morning with a few lycra clad friends, we even take our bikes occassionally as well !!

Happy to join up sometime, are there any other ' mountains' near MK ?

If any of you ever fancy a trip to Dublin (cars and bikes)...I head out with a few friends to the Dublin and Wicklow mountains (theres an article in August MTB UK) most weekends.

At the moment we are sussing out new trail (carried the bike way too much last Sunday).

I presume the bikes go on your spare cars ....or do you put them on the Porshce. If so ...how??

Sean

I' m the " other half" of the region 10 die hard biking fraternity...and go out biking with Brian quite a bit. ( he' s currently in Eurodisney)

For transportation I just dump the bike in the back of the Golf, or whatever I' m driving at the time - it doesn' t matter. We' ve also tried some other venues (Thetford Forst springs to mind) - a really nice venue.

Let' s keep this thread going - with over 400 people currently registered to the region (I think there ought to be more than the 2 of us sados

By the way = knowe woburn quite well, and have done it a lot. Be good to get up there with some new faces !

Graham, Andy,
A blast around the Woburn woods at the weekend appears to be a common favourite.
All we need to do is agree a convenient date for all - next weekend is Eynsham and then Goodwood revival (or VW Action) the weekend after - how about Sunday 14th September?

Sean,
A trip to Dublin for a pedal and few beers sounds excellent. Once you find a suitable route we should discuss a date and gauge the interest.
It is possible to transport a bike on the roof of a Porsche. Philip Raby showed it was possible with a Thule set up in a Porsche and 911 World magazine article.

Sounds like a good option. I' ll post to this thread when i' ve found a humdinger of a trail. This could be a while as theres much for us to check out....but as the current Californian Runners says.....i' ll be back[;)]

BTW, i' m pretty much a newbie to this (only out in ernest a couple of years) so i' ll make sure its worth travelling for.

Sunday the 14th in Woburn/Brickhill sounds good to me. Haven' t been up there at all this year but I assume it is dry as a bone at the moment ...

Isn' t Eynsham the 30th/31st - or am I going to be a one man convoy on the Saturday ?

Graham,

Eynsham is next weekend and I shall also be joining the convoy from Porsche Centre Silverstone on the Saturday (30th).

I' ll mark the 14th in the newsletter events calendar for a pedal around Woburn. We should be able to get other cycling R10 members to join us - Steve, Andy, Edward, Jeff, Leo, Gary and Simon. The more the merrier.

How many takers are there for a ride through the Brickhills on the 14th ?

I would suggest that we meet in the Windmill Pub Car Park at Caldecotte (just off the A5D junction) to give cold legs - assuming some people are driving there - a chance to warm up b4 the nice big Woburn hills.

Was up in the woods last week and, apart from a large qty of sand that seems to have arrived over the summer, the conditions at the moment are ideal.

Let me know your thoughts ..

I' m in. However, I have wrecked one of my knees, and am resting. Did a blinding 6mile run, and no problem, but now in agony []...so it' s a pencil " in" ...

If the knee isn' t cured by then, I' ll ask Brian to offer his tandem, so that I can steer, & he can pedal ![:)][:)][:)]

Steve

Graham, I believe we have definites from Andy, Gary, you and me. We have possibles from Gary' s brother in law and Edward and Jeff.

What sort of time do you want to start from the Windmill?

We usually start early (7 ish) but that' s only because we are sad family men who are too scared to ask for a late morning pass from the wives.

Happy to go with whatever suits you guys as there are probably a few people travelling - I only live a 20 minute bike ride away from the Windmill. You name the time that suits you best and I (we - got a lodger with a bike at the moment) will be there.

Does Steve always start preparing his excuses this far out ?[:D]

7 o' clock? AM? On a Sunday? You must be joking? [:)]
How long do you normally cycle around the woods for?
I thought we were going to start about 09:30 and finish when the pub opens, if you get my drift. [;)]

How about 08:00? I shoul be able to get up and over to MK for then?
[8|]

8 it is then, do you think we need to wear red carnations in our lapels just in case the pub car park is a bit crowded ?

PS This is Graham - I seem to have lost my cookie and my password for my own profile

A lot of fun was had by all
