Multi Function S Wheel

Just a quick one thinking of having the Multifuction Steering wheel retro fitted. Does it allow you to skip a track when listening to a cd or tune in to a different radio station?

thanks

For 997.1 cars no it doesnt let you skip tracks. Just change volume and mute/pause.

You can however programme the wheel to let you customize what it does, so perhaps this is possible, albeit I suspect that it wouldn't be one click, more like 4 or 5.

You can use the buttons / dials on the wheel to change tracks / stations if you have the pcm on the audio screen. It wont work if you are on say the map screen.

That's right. The button functions change depending on what screen is in use.

I got a quote of around £1500 from and OPC after most point blank said it couldn't be done. never ceases to amaze me the difference betwean an OPC that goes the extra mile and others that are just happy changing oil. I have tiptronic and cocoa interior, don't know if standard black is cheaper - doubt it though.

It's worth keeping an eye on ebay, I got a MF steering wheel from there and transfered the controls to my Boxster. The wheel was peanuts. the big cost was having the OPC program the buttons, but was worth it, cost less than £200 in total.

The multi function controls are only compatable with the standard "triangular" airbag steering wheel. if you have the round centre sport wheel the buttons cannot be transferred over as the profiles are different. There is no sport multi function wheel available for the gen 1 cars. If you want a sport feel wheel with multi function controls you either need to buy a techart steering wheel (budget over 1500 for this) or a porsche wheel with XPA option (extra padding). The XPA wheel doesn't have the thumb grips like the sport , but is a thicker wheel , about the same as the sport. The standard wheel is a thinner rim than the sport by about 0.5 cm, but it does make a difference in feel. The techart item is thicker still , and has a much more chunky feel.

I have a techart wheel in my 987S with multi function controls and love it.
