Just thought i would let you know about a fella i heard last night in concert.

I was at a James Blunt concert in Belfast, and his supporting act was a guy called Jason Mraz. If you like James Blunt (ir even if you dont) this guy is like a funkier more upbeat version, i bought his album at the show and havent been able to turn it off all day.

I would recommend you all buy the album "A-Z" and see what you think of this fella, IMO he is outstanding and only a matter of time until he is in the UK charts.

Has anyone else on here heard of Jason Mraz?

Personally, a little AC/DC makes drive a tad quicker

James Blunt - I have looked in Pet and can not seem to find the pipe that connects the exhaust to the drivers window!

Surely it would be impossible not to be funkier and more upbeat? [:D]

haha, yes he has his own rhyming slang but he is obviously doing something right to sell so many million albums haha.

Upbeat and more funky I know is had to do bu tbelieve me he somehow manages this mamoth task haha, check out one of his tunes from a "legal" download site haha

Ok so how about a quick top ten driving albums list, I`ll start with Reverence by Faithless, anyone else...?

And Katie Melua for those times when you don't need to shred tyres. [8D]

While not a great compilation fan I much rate "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"

AC/DC "Back in Black" is pretty much guaranteed to result in a speeding fine.

Queen "A Kind of Magic" is a good driving album, with much light and shade. It also works well if you should wish to undertake a spot of sword wielding....there can be only one.

EC "One More Car, One More Rider" Disc II, excellent.

Pink Floyd Pulse Disc I & II

This reminds me to sort my stereo out as it is totally crap!! [&o]
I used to run a 1.5Kwatt (rms!) system using Alpine stereo and Alpine V12 amplification with Infinity speakers. This little lot measured a modest 112 db in my previous car, unfortunatly all this will not fit in the 944.
Everything sounded great on that system (apart from Celine Dion!!)

Surely some Led Zep is essential.

I've the original Blaupunct Symphony stereo - seems a shame to loose the original but something must be done - I'll start with the speakers.

The obvious anthems are usually good enough for me:

Deep Purple - Highway Star
Golden Earring - Radar Love
The Cult - Sanctuary

Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Meatloaf....is it that we are all 'of an age' on this forum, or is it that this musical era suits driving, or particularly suits the 944???

I've only just turned 40 but I always find Jimi Hendrix focuses my driving [:)]

I think there could well be something in that.

I don't know why but (despite being a wanabe guitarist) I can only take small doses of Hendrix, perhaps 6 tracks at most. The main problem is unless I'm listening to Hey Joe, Purple Haze, The Wind Cries Mary or All Along The Watch Tower those are the tracks I want to be listening to. EC and Santana I can have a CD on repeat all day and I don't start wanting specific tracks. Is this because EC and Santana consistently produce good stuff and Hendrix is like a Curates Egg or is it that the afore mentioned tracks are so good that you just have to listen to them. I guess it is the same with Led Zep and Stairway and Sabbath and Paranoid, if you get my drift.

And just to add further to the driving tracks:-

Whitesnake - Here I go Again (any version including the US Techno Rock mix) & Ain't No Love..(Live)

I wholly agree John,

Hey Joe, Purple Haze and All Along the Watch Tower are the only three Hendrix tracks i listen to, but IMHO they are all superlative driving songs

It seams that all who drive 944's are into their classic Rock music and as much as I have most of the songs you have suggested.
No one has selected the more modern bands like GREEN DAY, BLINK 182 and SUM 41, I think these are good driving albums too.
