Mine has developed a rather strange issue. After I have been driving for around 10-15 minutes I start getting a low pitched whistle coming from what sounds like the rear right wheel area. I stress it only manifests after 10-15 mins and even then not always. It's almost like the noise when you blow across the top of a bottle. At first I thought it might be a bush or other worn suspension component but now I am not sure. It goes away when you apply the brake and returns a little bit louder as soon as the pedal is released for a short time. I am thinking maybe a sticking piston on the caliper or something. Anyone ever had anything similar?

i have exactly the same problem on my citroen c4!!

it seems as if something is rubbing as it gets warm, ie metal expanding with heat i think its either:-

the pads rubbing on the disc or
the discs slightly warped.

although if the discs are warped, then i would feel it under braking and i dont. so my theory is the pads rubbing so a sticking piston on the caliper.

Yep exactly even slight pressure and it stops. My money is on a sticking piston. I was planning on swapping the discs around to give the handbrake a little more bind so if it transfers I will know it is the disc. However I also feel nothing under braking so I reckon it is one or more of the four pistons sticking on that caliper.

i rek on mine it is a sticking piston. i did have exactly the same symptoms on the off side rear last year first, but after a while it stopped on it own accord. i wonder if a build up of brake dust contributes to it?

Am maybe being thick here but how would swapping the discs improve the handbrake? Genuine question.

(p.s. Not forgotten about ABS pump part number, just not had chance yet.)

They can wear a pattern into the hub inside the disc. Sometimes it can help to reverse the flow if you know what I mean. Going against the grain can give a little more bite.

Hmm could well be. In any case I think it is definitely brake related. Mite be time for a spot of caliber refurb on the back at least. Anyone know of any reasonably priced kits? Or indeed what is needed? I may even be able to cobble the parts together at work.
