Must Sell 997 Cab

Sadly, the Porsche must go! It's a sign of the times but the unforseen collapse of the UK construction industry (my main client group) is having a catastrophic effect on my own business and I must sell the car. I was hoping to wait 'till the spring but this is now more urgent. Can anyone offer practical advice on how best to shift the car, e.g. OPC, specialist dealer, magazines, autotrader etc. and what price to ask? The car is just coming up to one year old (delivered on 9/11/07 coincidentally!) with under 9000 miles on the clock and cost £88k new. I'm based in the north west. It's a C2S cabrio, atlas grey, black leather, powerkit, turbo wheels, heated seats, phone module etc and never tracked. I'll take any reasonable offer as I must clear the outstanding finance.

Ring round the OPc's and independents, stick it on pistonheads and autotrader and ebay just for exposure. Be prepared to take a massive hit though, car market as bad as construction industry and really is wrong time for a cab. being in mortgage industry I feel for you[&o]

Can you not hang on to it until next spring ? Hopefully the markets will have pick up by then looking on piston heads your cars value is about mid 50's Good luck

Mid 50's asking prices but what are they really achieving? []

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'll try the OPC's at Chester and Wilmslow first, then put it on Pistonheads etc. In reply to h4rvy, hopefully around 55k but I'll take 50k if I have to. Huge loss yes but no choice really. Such a pity as it's a fantastic car. Had a blast round the Evo Triangle a couple of weeks ago with a mate in a 997S coupe. The powerkit makes an amazing difference - significantly more grunt than the standard S, especially now that it's loosened up a bit. Sigh! critch

I feel for you but you have made the right decision - I don't see the market "recovering" any time soon, and our cars will continue to depreciate. Hanging on achieves nothing but a bigger loss. Good luck. Mark

True, but we will only see the depreciation if we do sell.. I'm hoping to sit it out, Yes the cars still depreciating but not to my pocket directly... however if your circumstances mean you have to sell then its not a nice time, not for ourselves or any other sports car owners..[:'(] garyw

If you think that those guys are not greedy or have built their businesses without severe amounts of cheap debt and private equity, you are sorely mistaken. They are part of the "feature" of our current position.

I'd be suprised if any of us 997 owners on here aren't a little bit greedy!!! pot kettle black?? Critch, I feel for you mate - feel free to PM me with an advert if you like and I can put it on my intranet if that helps (investment w anker, I mean banker).

Well I'm not thinking of selling but upgraded from a coupe to a cab Don't know how much extra I'll need or when to time it!......
