Autocar spies have snapped these pictures of the next-generation Porsche Cayenne testing in Germany. There has been speculation that Porsche is building a smaller version of the Cayenne but these spyshots confirm that the vehicle in question is actually the next generation of the popular SUV.
In an effort to disguise the car's bulk, Porsche has lowered the roofline and made it look sleeker. The smaller window apertures also point to a reduction is size, especially around the rear passenger window.
The wheelarches are larger than the current Cayenne's, giving the new car a far more aggressive stance.
This car will be built on the same platform as the forthcoming allowing it to utilise hybrid and diesel powertrains.
Porsche boss Wendelin Wiedeking is rumoured to be fast-tracking development of the car to get it ready by early 2010, before the release of the second-gen VW Touareg later that year.
