My 924

Hello Paul & everyone,

Took my lovely 924 Le Mans out yesterday for a drive. She started first time and drove like new! I now have a very nice low mileage 911 SC, but I have to be honest, whilst the 911 is awesome in performance, my 924 (Monsy) as the kids call her, is so tight, quiet, and relaxing to drive and fun around the corners! Everything works on her, and she is solid. To think she will be 27 years old this year is amazing, I dont think my wifes Renault Espace will be about in 27 years!!
Anyway thought I would share this with you all, some people say that the 924 was never a Porsche, well I have a 911 and a 924, both are brilliant, but there is something about my 924, I will NEVER sell her, but I reckon I will sell the 911 probably within the year.
I look forward to meeting up again this year.

I would just like to second that, the 924 is a special car, which once experienced is very difficult to let go.

Well I'm hooked. Have been for years.

I started with a 911S 1974 (I still have it) then got a 1982 924 Lux for everyday use and ten years on it is still the daily driver.

2 year ago I found someting that has the power and performance of the 911 plus the comforts and useability of the 924.

924 TURBO

Mmmm nice 924s![8D] I think the 924 just like the 944 has alot of character and are an affordable classic.
I certainly love mine[;)]

Geoff I love you red turbo BUT aren't the boy racer decals a bit too high up. Is that because us old oldies can't bend down as far as we used to be able too?

Theres a story to this. They were put on to hide a long deep scratch on the offside door.. Then some lowlifereversed across the road as I was driving by and totalled the offside door. I replaced the door (with one from a 944) but left the stickers.

have you seen the nice '931 turbo' decals on the boot?

I am not quite old enough for my eyes to start seeing around corners yet, BUT, in a few years time...... So in a word, NO. In three words, no I haven't.

Two please, one for each eye.

Brought back some memories of my 924 Le Mans. Bought 1988, sold (given to a friend of a friend) 2004. Handling to die for, looks that I still think are timeless/balanced/elegant and with the Le Mans wheels and tyres, just a little bit more muscular than the standard cars. Running it as my only car was great fun and the practicality of the rear seats/hatch makes all other "sports" cars look useless.
Some time, a 924 will re enter my life (924S or Carrera GT) but until then my 3.2 Carrera will have to do.
Loved the pictures.
thanks
Neil

Interesting choise.

924S All the beauty of a 924 with the refinements of a 944 and very practical
924 Carrera GT A brutal beauty but hardly practical as a daily driver.

I don't see them as an 'or' . Now if you were talking about a 924S AND a Carrera GT I am with you all the way. Just one point, if we are dreaming we may as well make it a GTS.

Actually a 924S, 924 Carrera GTS and a 911 3.2 is my dream stable.

Ok, only two to go then.
most likely a white 924S first, then the high days and holidays carerra GT, red or black, not fussy.
