My 944 S2 Niggles!

The Throttle Cable jams on if I apply too much pressure, quite embarrasing in traffic!

Just a case of replacing or tightening the cable or could there be more of a problem? is replacing the cable an easy enough job?

Also recently I am losing quite an alarming amount of power steering fluid, I can see where the leak is its just beside the front drivers side wheel and appears to be coming from where the pipe joins the unit rather than a split in the pipe itself.

Is this a common problem?

 
It's very possible that your car has been jacked up using the front drivers side lifting point that is meant for a 4 point lift. This can slightly bend the floorpan just under you accelerator pedal causing it to stick - very common. That point is not meant to take the entire weight of the car

Simple fix - place a thick towel in the drivers footwell and wallop the floorpan at the base of the accelerator with a lump hammer.

Yes I'm being serious - others will hopefully confirm.

Make sure the car is only ever jacked up using the central jacking point half way along the sill - right underneath a diamond shaped indent in the sill
 
how fantastically bizarre and probably 100% true as this is exactly where we jacked it up to see the leaking power steering fluid!!
 
Use the jacking point in the middle of the car in future and then place your stands under the front and rear jacking points or the castor mount on the front or the flat part of the alloy support of the torsion bar carrier on the back. Many will say not to jack or support the car on the castor mounts but in 80K odd miles on my 2 cars never had a problem with this. The manual also says to never jack from the gearbox but again many ppl do this without problem as long as you have something to spread the load from the jack onto the box.

Paul is right about the floor this has happened to me on both my S2 and 968, although on the 968 it was caused by following the recommended practice on a good location for placing jack stands [on the chassis rail box section]. Ultimately the problem on both cars is that ANY places you can see on the body shell that look like they may support the car apart from the jacking points in the manual will only support the car either flat on a lift or when it was being built up.

The 968 is more problematic in many ways as it doesn't have the jacking point in the middle of the sill, on my 968 I found I can jack one side up from the rear high enough to get a stand under the front jack point and then repeat on the other side. Sounds extreme but works well for lifting the front of the car.
