My 944 won't go!

As per my first post, I've just purchased this badly neglected 944 thats obviously not been used for quite a few years. I bought it as a non runner, so, today I've been having a play in an attempt to resurrect it.

I've discovered that it doesn't have any spark. I've found the the DME relay is not energising, but I assume this was because the ECU wasn't seeing a crank signal. So, I've checked both sensors on the back of the engine, but both appear to be open circuit. Assuming that they are inductive sensors, can any one tell me what resistace I shoud expect to see through them or are they the "hall effect" type.

Hall effect as EDH said, but stick with it and eventually it will fire into life.

Don't quote me but probably a screen considering the job they do and the proximity to other electrical gadgets causing them to pick up wayward pulses ?

It lives and breathes!

I figured, after studying the wiring diagrams that these sensors must be the inductive type (ie, generate a voltage when the rotor on the flywheel passes over them) so I managed to purchase a couple of second hand ones off of ebay for a fraction of the cost of what I was being quoted for buying them new. Anyway, fitted them today and it fired up!

Just for future reference, if anyone wants to check these, you should get around 1000 ohms across two of the three terminals. The third terminal is for the screening.

So, having proved that it runs and drives, time to move on to the next stage. Get it ready for an MOT! [:D]

Great stuff 1 down hopefully 1 to go (MOT) enjoy.
