Hi [8|]

An intermittent issue with tiptronic. I noticed from gear 2 to 3 there was a loss of power > i pressed the accelerator and nothing happened then suddenly went into 3 . I also noticed it climbs up through the gears quickly and i find the gear is in 5 at around 32-35 mph. Its intermittent . Anyone experienced this issue? A software thing or more serious??!!
Otherwise this 2.7 is sublime [8D]

Hi Julian,

How long since the transmission fluid was changed? It degrades over time and would give symptoms like slow or imtermittent gear changes.

Hi Dave

I had the car major service about 1 month ago at Porsche Centre . I dont know if they did transmission fluids- Ill ask them .

Thanks for your reply

Julian,

Just to mention that Porsche's recommended interval for a transmission oil and filter change on your 987.1 Boxster is year 12/120,000 miles. If it's been done it should be noted in the service book and on your Centre's invoice.

Hi Julian,

I had my tiptronic oil changed on my MY 2001 996 c4 at 78k Porsche has it at 96k made big difference to gear changes and to performance released approx 10% more power and throttle response was much better!
All oils degrade over time and use auto box oil has a hard & hot life so I would suggest every 5 years &/or 40k miles to get the best out of the box improve mpg and likely good preventative maintenance!

You would know as the transmission change would be a lot of money
Make sure they use the correct fluid as it is very important and the type can alter the way the transmission works

Also you only replace about 65% so mixing is not good

987 Typtronic is a Merc box. PDK becomes POrsche

Hi

Thanks for your guidance. Im still waiting for Porsche Centre to get back to me. In the meantime I will pass on your thoughts to engineer Eddie Bennet fro Silvertune Porsche Specialist.

Regards
Julian
