My dearly beloved arranged for me to 'borrow ' a 3.2 Carrera 911 for 24 hours from the Classic Car Club[][][]
I'd never driven a 911 before, and it was certainly an experience. THe car itself was rather tatty and had 156K recorded miles, whereas my 944 has done 'only' 93k.
Both cars are the same age so it was interesting to compare them.
I found the unassisted steering a pain in tight spaces, the brakes were much less convincing than mine and It was odd having a central handbrake!!
The engine was powerful certainly and the noise was awesome, compared to what I am used to, (the 911 was a convertible, which probably made it a bit noisier?)
All in all I found the 911 more of a challenging drive what with the huge gear stick, ( reminded me a bit of a Range Rover), but That is what they are all about I suppose.
I have been asking myself would I swap for a 911 if the vehicles condition were equal, and the answer is no.
I would have both.
I WILL have both one day....now where did I put that jar of pennies[]
