My car is in bits!

OMG! My car is in bits. It has no pu's, windows, rubbers, sill covers etc.[:(]

OK, you have guessed it. The car is in at 911 Bodyshop in the tender hands of Chris for a full respray to get it tip top and all new again. The vandalism would ahve meant there was less panels original than repainted. Even forgetting colour differences, to have 2/3rd of the car perfect and the rest with minor but normal stone chips etc would have made the paint work even more noticable. Chris was chosen because he came equal first in my "ideal choice" search and he was prepared to work a miracle (fingures crossed). The intention is that I will put the car into a container on 9th January, finished!

I was worried this might mean Chris rushing but even if he does, everybody reports his standards are so high I have no need to worry. In addition, my mags are being reconditioned which means that I should arrive in Oz with the car in about the best condition except for 1 thing, the interior. However, I will be taking a complete new carpet set from Southbound with me. The only things that won't be done are the seats and steering wheel, which are a bit worn but add the bit of character that I think is needed.

I am pretty excited about this. Thanks to everybody who has given advise and recommendations. I will try to post pics of the finished product, maybe taken in a sunnier place!

Simon,
The bodyshop you have used "up north", who and where are they as I'll be in the market for some paintwork early next year.

thamks,

I haven't used an "up north" bodyshop but I have seen a lot of work from Ninemeister and have heard a lot of recommendations. They were the only other company I would have used. That isn't to say there aren't others as good or that other recommendations weren't valid, just that Chris and Mark have consistantly high recommendations. They only work on Porsches and it's not often that you hear the same words time and again. However, with both I heard "perfectionist" and "highest standards" time and again.

The proof will be in the result!

Happy new year all you RS lovers

Where did you get your mags done Simon mine are in need of some attention

Karl.

It will be safe.......I will be driving it "like I stole it"[;)] After all, it will be the last drive for 2 months[:(]

I saw the car on Tuesday in a far from finished state. All the paint was on and cut back but it was awaiting a final polish and had no windows, bonnet or wheels. However, it was looking very shiny and red! Particularly pleasing is all the new rubbers which, combined with having recently bought new rear lights and centre section, really set the car off nicely.

I will see the finished job on Monday and will try to take some pictures then.
