My cars had a wee! Any aircon specialist in w yorkshire

Hi,

My 996 turbo started smoking from behind the Front drivers wheel arch and a fluorescent green liquid started dripping on the floor? I see that there are two pipes there and it seems to be coming from the clamp under the drivers seat.

After searching the Internet, I believe these are the aircon pipes, so can anyone recommend a good air con specialist, or should I just take to a independent Porsche garage and let them sort?

Thanks in advance

Green wee sounds like coolant rather than refrigerant. Leaking refrigerant basically disappears into the air as a gas.

I would concur with the others, the air con is a gas. I think the aircon pipes run down the side along the cill and are often pinched when jacking the car up.

Get your self down to a specialist, if it started smoking it could be a bit more serious if something has been rubbing on the pipes.

My car once leaked water from the fron and it turned out to be windscreen washer fluid, but then mine doesn't have any water in it at all.

Hope you get it sorted.

Sounds like coolant to me as well. Give Porschetek in Leeds a call, they have the necessary aircon gear if you need it and can sort the coolant pipes if you dont.

Thanks for the response,

I only pulled the car out of the garage to wash, so I wouldn't have thought it would have got hot enough to smoke? I checked the coolant level which was fine, and pink in colour.

On this and using google I believe that if re gassed previously they put a bright green dye to help locate a leak, and they are two pipes that run from the front drivers wheel to the rear wheel and are just behind the jacking point ( can't upload pic on bloody iPad )

Will speak to a porsche specialist tomorrow to confirm it's not coolant before driving, was hoping it's air con pipe and someone could recommend a local mobile aircon pipe repairer, for a cheap easy fix, it's only a bloody pipe with reasonable access after all!

Thanks for help though!

Well it doesn't sound like coolant then if that is pink.

I would have thought any of the specialists will be able to help you out. I am not aware of any mobile air con specialists, but I do know that the likes of RPM, Strasse and Porsche Tek can do it on site.
