My cars spec?

First of all - hello. I'm new, this is my first Porsche, and I think it's a good one. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to drive it recently because I am currently recovering from an apendectomy (sore tummy + seat belt + bucket seat = :-(
But anyway, is there any way of checking my cars spec with regard to whether it has an lsd or upgraded ARBs. It does have 993 Turbo brakes - which is nice.
Thanks

Hi Tom and welcome
In the hand book and on the inside of the rear panel there should be a sticker with lots of codes - option codes - MO30 is "sport suspension", in true Porsche style, everything is listed.
I cant remember where the list of the codes is, but if you call into the 944 forum someone on there will know.
You can also contact Porsche direct, again I've forgotten the address.
Enjoy your car and keep on the forum - and the 944 one - join the club and make the most of a great car.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Tom.
First thing to do is look in the boot/hatch area, somewhere either on the back panel or boot floor there should be a square paper decal. This should have all the option code numbers of the items that were fitted from the factory.
If you havnt got one of those try the inside cover of your service documents. Its duplicated there.
If you aint got either, then.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It a case of getting dirty.
ie on your hands + knees , check the diameter of the front roll bar. Not at the ends but around the middle. The M030 ones are 30mm diameter...The rear if M030 /19mm will also have 3 holes at each end, not just one that connects to the drop link..
I think the standard bars are 26mm and 18mm respectively..
The LSD is only noticable if you get BOTH rear wheel off the ground, if you turn one wheel, [on a lsd], the other should turn in the same direction, if no lsd itl turn the oposite way...
What car have you bought, who knows somebody might actually know the car, its a small comunity...As there arnt that many left on the roads now...
Either way enjoy your new purchase...

Hey mike, you beat me too it......[;)][;)]

You can also get the Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche GB, free to members, that lists factory options.

One issue is that there might well be changes after it left the factory. For instance my options, both on the car and from Porsche, list cloth seats but it has nice leather. The only way to know for sure is to look over it yourself, or get it on a ramp at a specialist. Open days are great for this, as it's free. [;)]

E220 was the factory fit LSD if I remember correctly - happy to be corrected tho.

Enjoy the car Tom - wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

Fraser.

Thanks chaps - much appreciated. I can't find anything in any of the history I have so I'll have to physically check the car. Perhaps do that next week when I'm feeling a bit more flexible as opening the rear hatch involves climbing into the car. I did think about jacking it up and having a good look at the ARBs and doing the wheel turning and checking the rear shocks for additional springs.

For your info, and possibly the previous owner/s, I have a White 968 ClubSport with Red decals and wheels, M671WEG. I shall hopefully be able to make the next meet at The Bear as I was unable to attend this last one.

Tom

M671 WEG.
Is that the one from the dealer in / near Sheffield.???
As was advertised on Pheads.???
I think "we" might be able to shine some light on it....

Referring to this one Dave....Oulton Park August 2005, Lewis Tintin's daily drive whilst he was racing another...

Yes, I bought it from a dealer in Sheffield.
If anyone has any useful info I would be very grateful.
As for pieces of paper on the bootfloor - no joy there. The only thing I've managed to find is a card in with the service/manual stating an immobiliser is fitted.
Still not driven my car yet, although my "wound" is healing nicely - this weekend, fingers crossed. Both my father in law and brother in law are eagerly awaiting a go as well. Even my mother seems to like my car - although I got "why has it got red wheels?"

If you have the Service Manual it should be affixed inside the front cover, the one in the boot is usually on the inside of the rear panel, between the spare and the n/s light cluster.
Hope the weather improves for the weekend for you!

Or just ring up an OPC with your chassis number and they'll fax or email the original production spec to you. That's what I did with my 944.

Found the sticker after a second look. It appears my car was fitted with no optional extras at the time of order.

Right, found the options list that was fitted to my car, nothing special really. Apart from 451 Prepared for radio for sport group and 718, which I can't find a reference for. Hey ho.
