I just thought I would give you my impressions of my car on a recent track day at Brands Hatch.
I had low expectations, being such a heavy car, and most of my limited track time has been spent in 911's but I have to say it was quite impressive. The only slight concern that on the first session out a number of warning lights came up and a warning note "emissions service needed" spoke to AM. And they said; if it's running OK don't worry about it, so I didn't.
I felt the best combination for my driving ability was"¦.. flappy paddle; sports mode off and stability on"¦so I wasn't too adventurous. With sports mode on, has a tendency to red line and go a bit wobbly, with it off"¦it got to a reasonable rev band before it changed automatically, if I didn't. After a few sessions it was really working well. Breaking was pretty good (but not as the 911) no fade during the last runs out, steering was firm and good feel.
The gearbox in flappy mode was great"¦at the end of the Brabham straight pulling about 130MPH"¦. 100 meter board before Paddock Hill Bend, two quick changes 4 "" 3 "" I then pull 2nd and it doesn't do it until the speed drops below when it can cope with second, just brilliant"¦ then down and up towards the tight hairpin of Druids, at this point it's not so good, the pesky traction control light blinking at me, and not really powering out (still not encouraged to turn it off though), the rest is just fab.
The down changing is just excellent so smooth even under extreme conditions with the blipping of the throttle just makes the whole thing wondrous.
You can be more adventurous with a 911, push it harder going in and coming out, the DB9 was not in it's natural habitat but it did pretty well considering
