My first Boxster service

Hi everyone,

I've had my 2000 Boxster for about 8 months and this month will be the first time that I'll be taking it for a service. Could someone tell me what the average price for a 48,000 mile service should be? Would it pay to shop around different Porsche centres, and should I be expecting a courtesy car of similar spec whilst mine is in the workshop?

Thanks in advance...

don't know about price - £400-£500ish possibly, but try to beat them down.

Courtesy car - possible, but definitely not of the same spec - my car is in just now and I was given a 1.6 golf!

48000

I believe the Polyrib belt gets changed and you will probably need to have the brake fluid changed. This will add £200'ish to the bill. Take 9 litres of Mobil 1 with you and save £50 (or more) as an OPC will charge around £100 for oil.

Courtesy car Mini Cooper/BMW Compact/Boxster/Chrysler Neon!!!

JCB..

Thanks for the info guys. Was really hoping that I might have a had a newer Boxster for a day or two to "try out"!! A Ford KA it will probably be then...

The 48k is a biggie with all the above plus I think, spark plugs as well.

If you don't get any luck with the courtesy car (I got a bottom of the range 1.1 Pug 106 last time) ring the sales dept and say that you are thinking of changing to either a new Boxster S or a new Merc SLK. In fact, your car is in the workshop for a service next week so it would be an ideal time to have a look over the Boxster - would you be kind enough to have the demonstrater ready for me to take for the day?

They can only say no.... (you will definitely get a run in it even for half an hour with the salesman if you give them enough warning)....

Next game is to try the above inserting "C4S", "Turbo" or "GT3-RS" before the salesman actually falls off his chair laughing!

I'm up for a 24K service before trolling off to Le Mans and Porsche Reading have offered me a Cayenne S...... it will be bull bars and no indicators next :ROFLMAO:

I'll give it a fair and honest write up.

Porsche Reading have offered me a Cayenne S......

Did they offer the caravan and piebald horse with haynet option pack??

Or was it the 5 snotty-nosed kids model??? [:D][:D]

I think I'll ask for it to be fitted with a Sony Playstation and bull bars so I can double park on the yellow lines outside the local school. :ROFLMAO:

Jonny, i've just booked my 2.7 boxster in for the 4 year service and the OPC is quoting approx £700.00!!![]

I've checked and they'll knock off 10% for PCGB membership. Phoned Paragon and they're quoting £450.00+VAT.

Chap at Paragon has told me that this is the biggie service and therefore much more pricey.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

FYI, I've asked and they've agreed to loan me a Boxster S demonstrator whilst my car's in for the service. If you use an OPC make sure you push for the loan car you want - if you book in plenty of time, there's no reason why you shouldn't get it.

Oh, and for the record I got a Boxster S off them last time it went in for service too!

It can be done.

xx

Jonny, take it to France mate, although the parts are approx the same price at the OPC over there as here the labour costs are £40 instead of £90 per hour so if they spend all day on it 10hrs it will save you 500 quid ............... all for the price of a £39 pound daytrip via eurotunnel, and you still get your porsche stamp in the book !!

Even the independants want 60 / 70ph

Regards
Paul

I got my 4 year /48k service done at OPC Staples Corner for £515. I didnt nead a courtesy car as it only took them one day to do the job!
