I thought I'd post the heading and a few folk would read the topic thinking , ah his cheepie blew up on him :p , It didnt but I sold it today.

I always said the cheepie would be an extended test drive and it was , I got to drive a Porsche hundreds of miles in a few weeks and dropped 150 quid for the privelege which I think is fine for me, it was fun.

If I hadnt have bought it so cheep it would have been a terrible mistake but as it happens I have had the chance to find out if Porsche are for me and have had great fun.

Well Porsche are for me and I'm gutted that I will now presumably miss the Porseshop open day which I was really looking foreward too. Other than that I'm happy as she has gone to someone who I have told all her niggles and faults and he is going to use her to make a track car. For me to bring her up to a good standard would be 2000 without a doubt and my money will be better placed elsewhere.

Those who said buy one thats had everything done were of course totally right and I think my next one will be an S2 or a 968 , I think there is just more to go wrong on a turbo and I'm no boy racer so an S2 or a 968 I think but who knows I like an adventure [8D]

I would be very tempted by a later 911 but TBH I have found that front end folk on average are more lkely to be my kind of folk
( mustn't upset the 911 folk though I may end up with one later ) [:)]

Regards Mas

Sorry to hear this Mas , I hope you get another Porsche soon. I wouldn't worry to much about 911 folk , their not all like that but yes I agree with you , you don't get the same imature comments within the front engine guys that some 911 snobs may make. I guess it's because we don't have to prove anything about our cars....[:)][8D][8|][8|]

Anyway choose which ever car you think you'll get the most fun from, whether that be a 914,924,944,928,911 etc etc , it really doesn't matter enjoy it and have fun.

I'm not quitting ! , I'm on the hunt but I promise I will get whatever I buy properly checked out and not just rush in.

Cheers Mas

I think you will still be welcome at the Porscheshop visit !

Yep, come along anyway. There will be people there purely looking for advise on buying a 944, along with current owners and people who've moved backwards into rear-engined Porsche ownership. [;)]

Hi Mas
Hope you told the new owner about us!
Looking forward to hearing about your new aquisition whenever and whatever it may be - keep us posted.
Dont know where you're based but you may be able to cadge a lift in a '44 the Porscheshop meet.

Il didnt bid on the one on e bay due to the high miles but did you see it , full porsche history from new a very impressive one by the look of it and it sold for 5000 ? , the miles were really high though.

Regards Mas

Don't be put off by high milage, they mean nothing on a Porsche, better to have good history, either porsche or indy, don't rule out any enthusiast's who do all the work themselves though , these will probably be the most cared for cars and thus best buys of the lot...[:)]

Just get yourself a GOOD + WELL cared for 968 . You wont look back...[;)][:D][;)][:D]
I agree with Dave, now that I have had the 968 for almost a year I wouldn't go back to an S2. Its the only car I have driven that is very close to the perfect road swift car, and GT straight out of the box. I did the same trip down to Falmouth and back last week in both my 968 and a brand new Passat. Surprisingly it was as comfortable a trip to make in the 68, similar wind noise just slightly harsher ride in the 68 and more engine and tyre noise. The bizarre thing as much as ppl criticise the harsh ride in the 68 it isn't uncomfortable and on long journies there is enough going on to keep me awake. Yes they cost a lot more then an S2 but then so do most things.

If only it wasnt white , is it me or is this car near to being very good value ?

I hate White ! , I can manage Black but White no no no

Hi Mas - I was just surfing the net over the weekend and did come across what seems like a 968 Sport (Guards Red) on the shirleys garage website. Might be worth a look.
