My first Porsche..........

foggy

New member
Hi all

Well finally became a Porsche owner this week[:)][:)][:)]

As you an see it's a White S2 which has a full history from P.M.D & Porsche specialists.

Plans are limited at the mo' to fitting Cup mirrors & a Clubsport steering wheel & maybe a change of wheels.

Let me know what you think
Cheers

Welcome! [:)]

Looks great, I'd not worry about the wheels personally. Where are you based? Only that you've got a crooklock on in the pic and cup mirrors are a real thief-magnet in London. I'd assume other town centres would be the same. [&o]

Car is at my ol' mans in North London at the moment (hence the crooklock) as he's gonna take it to a Specialist in Kings Lynn where he takes his 911's for a checkover (only problem i noticed was a noisy power steering pump) Then it will be coming back to Essex where it will be garaged.

Nice looking machine. Im all up for the white cups, makes the car look very modern.

Is this the same car that was featured in Porsche 911 & world a while back?

TY mate, wheelwise i'm not totally sure about the cups as i've always liked the Teledials from the Turbos.
And yeah was featured in the Sept' issue which i've got ordered as a back issue, was it much of a feature??

Nice car and nice wheels ! Welcome aboard. [:)]

Thanx mate, reasonably local to you (Clacton) & am working all over Suffolk at the mo'. Is there much in the way of meets etc in & around Essex/Suffolk ?????

Id put the proper wheels back on it myself. Cup mirrors look nice; but theyre next to useless: 968 handles do look smart though... Id also consider a Momo wheel, which was an option (cost option, despite being a fraction of the price of a new Porsche wheel!), looks smart and costs a lot less than a CS wheel.

Simon

Essex region (Region 11) are a very active and friendly bunch if you decide to join the Club. Quite a few 944 owners there, they meet at the Regiment Way Golf Club near Chelmsford. I have been a bit lax going to the meets this year as lifes pretty busy at the moment, will have to sort that soon.

The Norfolk/Suffolk regional meets are up near Norwich and again as far as I know are active, though have never made the trek up there myself.

Thanx for the comments

As I said wheels are yet to be decided and i'm in no real hurry to choose. Are the Cup mirrors really that bad then?

Never thought about the door handles, are they a direct fit???

Yeah admit the CS wheel is bloody dear[&o]

Cheers

Nice one, will look into it further once the weather gets a bit better.

Saw the ad for this Foggy on PH. Looks very nice and at a decent price.
Personally I'd keep the wheels as long as you can keep it all clean!
968 mirrors look nice but the flags do a much better job apparently.
CS wheel is nice though.

Was found on PH, and does wear the miles really, really well so brought it on condition & service history which seems to be the way to go with 944's

Had 17"white Comp MO's on my last car, a 250bhp RS Turbo (So much Torquesteer that the Grim Reaper himself sat in the passenger seat on every journey) so no stranger to keeping white rims clean.

Interested to hear other views on the 968 mirrors as I never thought about how well they actually worked....and yeah the CS wheel is sweet (just not sure if it's £250 sweet) so may go the Momo route.

Cheers

I had genuine electric, heated cup mirrors on mine and they were fine. I had no issues with them at all. I would imagine the flag mirrors have a bit more area thats all.

They look much better too IMO.

Get the wheels painted silver if they turn out to be hard work to keep clean, stick a CS steering wheel on Job done IMO !
Sorry 968 mirrors and door handles do not look right on a 944..........................nice looking car BTW [:D]

I don't normally like white 944s but with the matching white wheels it looks fantastic.

I have Cup mirrors and they do look lovely on a 944, but the rear view is slightly worse than with the square ones.

I think mine looks great with the 968 mirrors. Car looks lovely too :D.

Simon, you were saying Stock wheels look best on an S2, I'm guessing this extends to the ClubSport items too?
