My First Problem

Evening guys,

Had the old girl since wednesday evening now, only just had a chance to look at it, turning over without a problem but unfortunatly she is not starting, i replaced the spark plugs and let her have another go, but still nothing, removed the spark plugs then, and they were bone dry. im thinking there is going to be a problem with the fuel getting there, so im going to start checking that, is there anywhere particular which they have a tendency to go? or get blocked? such as fuel filter? Any info would be brilliant!!!

Cheers!!!!

Had a look at that, it looks brand new. there was an old one in the dash in a box, and the item code on the box matched the one which is in there. Any ideas on where to go next??

You can do a 'bodge' with a link wire which will replace the DME relay. Useful if you're suspicious of the two you have.

Does the fuel pump run when you turn the ignition on?

Going to have a look this weekend, i have been working all hours god sends atm, so im not having time to play with her. ill have another look this weekend. i am pretty sure its going to be todo with the pump or something to do with the fuel, as there was no smell of fuel on the spark plugs. Ill have a good look this weekend and get back to you all, any more ideas of things i could try would be brilliant thought.
Thanks

The DME relay kicks in at 45 rpm sensed at the rear of the engine by a sensor looking at the flywheel (passenger side) when the relay pulls in it allows the ignition and fuel to kick in= Engine Starts .
They are quite unreliable hence the spare in the glovebox, is the battery fully charged allowing sufficient cranking speed ? take the plastic cap off the end of the fuel rail plastic cover undo the 17 mm blank and check for fuel(it will be under pressure)
Coil ok ?
Good Luck it will turn out to be a minor niggle as usual [;)]
