My Gorgeous 944S

If you want cheaper can I recommend you stick with the Golf idea over the 306; my 306 cost more to run than my S2 cab when all was considered, and it's French cr@p.

Hi Fen,

I had a 306 XSi for almost 2 years and never had a problem with it, only expense was when the exhaust needed replacing. I haven't looked at Peugeot parts prices recently but £15 for a Golf front wishbone compared to £xxx for a Porsche 944 wishbone ;)

Maybe I was unlucky, but it used similar amounts of fuel, cost similar to insure and had lots more go wrong with it than the cab (big end, lambda, wishbone bushes, most of the air-con system, suspension was knackered). Given it was made of plastic, nowhere near as fast as the S2 and had zero prestige it struck me that it cost a lot more than it was worth.

In the same boat again I'd go German, either the Golf or maybe a Leon or Ibiza (which are German but assembled in Spain), or possibly an Octavia before I'd buy anything French.

Dave - sorry to hear you have to sell the car. I remember seeing it one time and made me stop and look as it was extremely tidy. All the best.

Cheers Wizard :)

I was in the company car park yesterday admiring the paintwork in the sun and taking a few more pictures. I may still keep her as I have had little interest from potential 944S owners yet. My main problem is I use the car as a daily driver so when expensive jobs become necessary (such as belt changes, tyres), costs start to climb.
