My horn sounds after i have locked my car?

Every time i lock the car the horn sounds.

I have checked the bonnet is closed and the centre console is locked but it still sounds each time the car is locked.

Any Ideas??

I think it checks:
doors,
windows,
bonnet,
boot,
fuel flap,
and roof on a boxster?

Supposedly the centre console and glovebox, although I have not checked this.

The lights have a separate buzzer.

The radio as well, although i heard from a techie the other day that the OPC's usually disconnects this alarm wire from the radio cradle because of too many false alarms.

Sorry i think i have described the fault wrong.

When i lock the car with the key fob, the indicators flash and then 5 seconds later the horn beeps twice, in the hand book it says that when the car does this, the bonnet is not closed properly or the centre console is not locked, both have been checked to be closed.

I wonder if anybody has has a similar problem, and the sensor/switch for the bonnet is out of adjustment. Does anybody know where the sensor/switch is located?

Thanks

Had this problem myself - check that the glove box is shut firmly - it took me ages to find out what the fault was!

Another possibility that just occurred to me is that there is some residual current drain.
Maybe a light is not turning off somewhere, like in the luggage compatment. Perhaps the switch is defective.

I have found that when I am locking the central consul the slight downwards pressure on the key whilst locking it actually opens it and thats when the horn sounds after locking the car

Thank you all for your ideas,

I will fiddle with the centre consul to see if this cures the horn beeping!!

Best regards,

Rob

Hi ya,
I have just purchased an "S" and not knowing a great ammount of info about the car found (only sometimes) when I alarm my car, i get 1 quick horn blast, is there a double option for when the roof is down, say click twice on the remote and it does something else?

I will have a look as well, let us know what you find.
Good hunting,

Peter
Black S 18" Classics, sport seats and a Road angel that just got me out of doo doo!!

The best reply here is to read the owners handbook as it tells you all the answers.
My usual one is the centre cubby hole is open as my elbow hits the button and opens it.

Also read my last post above.........The radios have caused problems so some OPC's removed the alarm wire, easy done if you have the removal keys, maybe yours is connected / loose if you cant find any obvious reason for the beep

click twice on the remote and it does something else?

Clicking twice disables the internal movement sensor. (This also causes the horn to beep as it is telling you that something - the internal sensor - is not alarmed)

Good news !!

All is quiet when i alarm the car, all i have done is gently pushed on the centre consul lid.

Thank you all for your good advice.
