My ideal numberplate

Got notification from reg transfers yesterday that various numbers with CC on them were available.

Had a quick look and there it was 911 CC!!!

Other numbers with CC were there as well at about £7-10k

I couldn't believe my luck when 911 CC was £5500!! I.e. cheaper than the others and just right for the carrera 4

My initial mild interest turned into'I'm having that'

I started to apply for it only to realise that the number was actually£55,000 and not £5,500!!!
Needless to say I am not buying it

It begs the question however that re g transfers must think that some well heeled Porsche owner somewhere will be rich, gullible and stupid enough to pay for the 911 prefix.

Sorry if I have offended another club member with initials CC who buys it!!

Chris Chappell. Aka CC!!

Ha ha, CC, I think you need a good accountant to sort out the numbers for you, call me [sm=kiss.gif]

PS I think I'm more shocked that you were actually seriously considering parting with £5.5k for one, my how you've changed since you became know by your initials, CC! Might be able to get it down as tax deductible tho [:)]

I'm cynical about how these people operate - it could well be the case that this firm does not even own the plate or have any contact with it's owner - they just put up a speculative price in the hope that someone comes along with the money, then they go out and try to buy the plate direct from the owner. If owner wants his plate more than (say) £20K he gets offered then the firm just says "sorry, plate no longer available".

Only sensible way to buy plates is DVLA auctions - they mostly go for a few hundreds and you can ask them to include specific plates in future auctions if they are available.

I quite agree. Talk about rip off Britain! Everything in this country is just becoming one big con.

I purchased a plate from DVLA recently, the postcode where I was born + my initials....

£250 [:D]

And it can go on any car without looking 'wrong' [;)]
