Thanks for the replys.
The gearbox is up to the usual 915 standards, but having owned a g50 car and a few 915 cars,i actually like the feel of the 915 box.It feels more mechanical in its change if that makes sense!!!
Andrew.

Greetings
OK here's my bit on 915 v. G50! I'm sure the 50 box is easier but having lived with my 915 box for nearly 5 years I would not say it's a disadvantage having an earlier car just because of the box.[:)]
Sure I've got to double the clutch when changing down and go "slowly" up the box. But thats the fun of it all, getting it right! Don't forget, anybody can drive an easy car, well most people!?[:-]
And my car has done 156k without a box or engine rebuild!!
Mind you I'm getting on and could do with a rebuild myself[:D]
Happy 915 motoring[;)]
Alex

double declutch?!? is your 911 pre war with non syncro gears? Yeah, maybe a blip of the throttle on a down shift and take you time but surely no need for a double de-clutching proceedure.

It can help when the oil is cold and the gears just don't want to line up.

I love the G50 in my 930, although I prefer the location of reverse on a 915.
