My manual feels like an automatic

I have a cayman S 2007 with approx 28000 miles , I am the second owner and still under Porsche Warranty - Manual gearbox

For the past 10 years I have owned mainly turbo charged front wheel / four wheel drive manual cars , mainly Golfs and Audi S3's modded up to 300BHP

So the Cayman is the first real wheel drive non turbo car I have owned and I have had it for the past 18months

I keep meaning to speak to the dealer about this so whilst its in my head I thought I would post here

I sometimes notice that when I accelerate I sometimes have this slight lag ( split second) and then what feels like a kickdown or kickup vibration coming through the accelearator pedal

The best way to describe it is to compare the feeling you have when an automatic gearbox changes up / down

Its not audible , its just something I feel in the pedal sometimes

Is this just a characteristic of this type of car or should I have this investigated ?

My hope is that this is just how these cars are and I am so used to a different type of drive

I had a similar lag on the Boxster S Anniversary Edition I had before my current Cayman R. Mentioned it to OPC Notts when it went in for a service and it turned out to be the MAF sensor on the engine intake. Had that, (and ignition coils) replaced - problem solved.
