My New boxster with a few minor issues

Hi All have recently purchased a 2001 boxster. Well what can i say the car is awsome and i'm really pleased. i have a few minor issues tho if anyone can help.

1) Both door panels rattle like made when driving and when i open the door and bang the bottom it seems as if something is loose inside ( Both Door panels)


2) Fuel cap makes a terrible noise when locking the car and it never locks the cap. The little plastic piston that locks the cap hardly moves when the central locking is activated.

Also does anyone know where i can get a new key made for my boxster as the one i have is really tatty.

Silly things i know but it drives me mad.

1. If you have Bose or the Porsche sound pack (ie speakers in doors) then it may be the plastic speaker surround thats loose, or maybe just the door trim itself - its fairly easy to remove the door panels, hidden screws and some clips thats all. If you remove them, make sure you replace or resecure the plastic door membrane as these detach oor fail after 5 years or so, leading to water ingress into the cabin
2. Is the rubber grommet around the locking pin in position ?
3. you will need a new key from the OPC - they are coded to the immobiliser, and not cheap

Re the key, I was recently quoted by an OPC £87 inc VAT for the key plus £105 + VAT for the programming!!!

Needless to say, I've gone to a specialist, who charges the same for the key, but only £25 for programming.

Yes the rubber grommet is fine. If I pull the plastic locking piston it works but still makes a noise. How easy is it to get the locking mechanism out to investigate??

Ok, a quick update to this post. I am getting the fuel cap lock done very soon and as for the door panels, I removed both door panels and found a screw had worked loose from the speaker housing on both doors. The car is now rattle free.

*TIP* Make sure that you put your key in the ignition and turn it to the first click before disconnecting the battery for the airbags otherwise your alarm will keep going off.
