Looks good in white. Don't think I've ever seen a 997 TT cab in the flesh, though. Is that a blue roof?

So after selling my 996 C2 Cab at Xmas and buying an AMV8 Vantage Roadster which was quite frankly rubbish, Tuesday this week I picked up my new car!

Only 300 miles in to ownership and am absolutely delighted........I know the colour combo will not appeal to some but I really do like it [:)]

ORIGINAL: adrian996 The secret of rubbishness is strong with this one![:D]
True. I broke one last year by accidentally leaving the glovebox open. Battery was nicely drained overnight. Doors wouldn't open next morning. Whole car was dead as a dodo. AM had to come and pick the car up. Quite shocking really. Even my daughters £14k cheapo car knows to turn the light off within a certain time if the glovebox, door, boot whatever is left open. Aston Martin are high end Alfa Romeos. Edit: Forgot to say congrats Scott. Love the look of the car in white. Enjoy in good health.

Hi I must say your car is a good looking machine, great colour set of by roof I would be also interetesd on the opinions of the Aston as I am thinking of getting one but will never sell my 993 TT

Great looking Car!! I am sure you will really enjoy it, especially with a heat wave coming. Its interesting what you say about the Aston. I test got to borrow one before buying my first 911, I really loved the noise, but so much that you buy a sports car for was missing, like real steering feel, turn in etc etc. Also it was not that quick, you felt like you were going fast all the time, but when you looked at the speed, then you were not going fast at all. I now have two friends who bough the Aston and have changed it after less than two years because they did not like it, one has just bought another 997, and the other an Audi R8. I am sure there will be some bargains to be had on the second hand aston market soon!! Have a great time in your new 997. Nige.

Great looking car and welcome back to Porsche.. [;)] Turbo does look good in white and I would imagine very summery with the roof down. garyw

The bargains are already here. My son has just taken delivery of a 4.7 (built for him) with £13 off list. I was offered £30K off list for a new 4.3. What don't I like? 1. The noise. Yes it is noisy, but it is not a great sound. Not like a 360 or California. 2. Did I like the Ford Ka key? Guess? 3. Build quality... As I arrived at Aston to test drive, one appeared on the back of a breakdown truck! 4. Starter labled 'Emotion Control'... I ask you, how naff. 5. Sportronic (clutchless manual). About as jerky as jerky can be! 6. View out... what view out? It is like looking through a letterbox. Need I go on?????

Eeeerrrriiiicccc!!!! How goes it? No 104 yet - but an Onkyo TSXR 507 is now mine (I have simple needs![:D]) Hope the 997.2 is all good - been following your PDK post - with interest! I like the car in white - good combo!! Adrian.[;)]

Tried a coupe last year and it was horrible, The sound is just so false and look at me. My then RS4 was better in every aspect, yes every aspect! My now 997 C4S gen 2 is also better in every aspect to the AMV8. Im not suprised they are offereing that kind of money off as people are realising that its pretty car but thats it. Niaomi Cambell is pretty but you would regret binning your wife for her every day of your life! (assuming you are happily married).[:D]

..put that shovel down, Baxster!![:D][:D][:D]

OK, so I'll add my thoughts about the AMV8 Positives: The sounds was awesome with Fuse 22 removed It looked amazing and attracted more than its fair share of admiring glances Most of the interior looked and felt special Negatives Slow (all relative I guess) Underpowered (IMO) Thirsty (not a consideration on a car like this but it struggled driven gently to achieve 17mpg) The Ford Focus Key [] The Volvo Key Fob (why couldn't this all be integrated) The Volvo Sat Nav with a horrible voice The reliability (mine went in for the same problem 4 times and still not properly fixed) The handling (I know it's a GT but still it's not the Queen Mary 2 either!) Overall Build Quality not what I would expect on a £100K car The hanbrake on the wrong side was just wrong The woefully inadequate throttle response (manual car) which meant stalling was easy, anything else had to be planned! I could on but won't. I'm really glad I owned an Aston but won't be hurrying back TBH - the best part for me was I escaped from ownership with a profit [:D]

Hey there your Turbo cab in white looks great! Enjoy! I also considered the AMV8 cab before ordering my C4S. Along with all the above comments, it's also completely useless for taking on touring holidays (main use of my car) - there is zero luggage space..[:'(]

Interesting what you say about the boot - I found it OK although having the rear seats in the 911 makes it sooo much better [:)]

And a week ago we were slagging off our Porsche's[:'(] Goes to show the modern difference between effectively bespoke/"hand made" cars like the Aston and cars made with mass some elements taken from mass production like our Porsche's (they didn't just take the just in time learning from the Japanese, they also got a lot of help on quality control - still not perfect mind). As always, there is good [;)] and bad[] with everything.:ROFLMAO: I still quite fancy an Aston - the difference being it would always be a second car for me (a weekend/touring toy) where-as all my Porsche's have been daily drivers.[8|] I'd still have a Porsche as a daily driver so that leaves the DBS or DB9 as the Aston toy (AMV8/12 having its behind kicked by the C2S) - hmm too expensive, esepcially with the Lambo, 997.2 Turbo and GT3 ahead of it in the wish list. Ah well, I can dream I suppose[:-]
