Well chaps....I am so genuinly chuffed at the moment I just have to share it with you !.........I have just today, collected my new 911 SC. It is a December '81 Sport Coupe in Light Metallic Blue with Black Leatherette/Navy Blue Pasha with the usual 16" Fuchs, full History & every MOT with 94,000 miles from new.

What a lovely drive these SC's are. My last one was back in 1986 which was my first 911, a '79 SC Coupe in the same colour but with Tan Leather which I believe, hopefully, still exists within the register. It was TEM 911V. It bought all the old memories back, especially with that informus 915 box which, like my last one, doesn't bulk like some others I've tried, and numerous SC traits which do not feature in other 911 variants, that one will only know having owned one previously, albeit over 22 years ago !

To me, the SC'c have a kind of honesty about them....fairly agricultural in design but not tamed with electronic intervention like so many later variants.

I will keep you posted as to how she goes.....

Thanks Phil,

I sold my old '95 993 C4 a while back but still have 993 C4 as my login !

Shall I send you the details of the new SC directly ?

Regards,

Nick.

Hi Nick,

Someone on one of these forums was experiencing some pain around whether to buy an SC or get a Boxter S. People voiced many opinions as to the right way to go, as they're both nice cars with their own strengths, but the one that sicks in my mind was from someone who had had one of each, He said something like the Boxter's great, but starting up the SC gave you so much more of a "sense of occasion." So eloquently put!

Absolutely right. Takes me back to my SC days mid-eighties. I had an SC Sport Targa KOD 920V and it was special.I would start up in the morning, keeping my boot well away from the throttle. Get out and walk down the driveway to open gates, listening to the engine blipping itself before settling down to a fast idle.It was a very different form of motoring.

Major congrat's on your purchase. As I was bouncing down a French country lane today in the blazing sun I too thought, 'God what a tractor I'm driving!' [;)] Seeeeeeeeriously though, they are a visceral drive, like you say mostly unspoilt by modern gadgets, although Porsche did try as it was supposed to be a 'comfort version' of the 911. [:D]

Well, i'm still very much in love but have just discovered the sunroof has, what appears to be the case, broken one of it's cables. Luckily the panel is still shut but when moving the rocker switch, the motor is still operational.

Is the job of replacing both cables a nightmare ?

Sold my 1982 SC recently, bought a 1994 993 Carrera 2, very nice car but miss the pure rush of my old SC that put a smile on my face, still thats progress.
Gone is the roar of the engine a full chat replaced by a loud warble of the sports air box and exhaust.
Enjoy[8D]

1982 911SC, sadly missed
1987 944 Turbo, now gone
1994 993 Carrera 2 Polar Silver
