My Porsche App Not Connecting to Car

Hi, Is anyone else having issues with the My Porsche App not connecting to there Cayman / Boxster?

The connection status circle stays grey and won't connect to my Cayman, it doesn't fail to connect and turn red either. It's just constantly trying to connect.

Some of the data updates, like trip data, fuel miles and tyre pressures, I think when I'm in the car.

I can't turn the tracker off or use the car locator.

I think it has been like this for the last few days, but maybe longer.

I thought I'd check with you guys in case it's a general issue at Porsche's end rather than an issue with my Cayman.

Thanks

Mark

Mine has started to have the spinning wheel of no connection. But I can set transport mode, sound the horn and flash the lights via the app with the connection wheel spinning

Vodafone can ‘see’ the car so tracker working, this seems the really important point.

Tomorrow I’ll open the windows and the rear hatch and to see if the change in status is showing on the app.

A year ago the app was connecting but it started to show very strange data. The files were sent off on two occasions to Germany who concluded it was down to ‘intermittent’ connections. It then started connecting reliably until recently.

As they say ‘go figure’

Thanks Ralph.

Good point about the Tracker, think I'll give Vodafone a call tomorrow to make sure the Tracker is working.

Does this issue affect the use - driving of the car, plus ... is there an insurance concern if there is a problem with the Tracking function ?

My tracker works although the app has the strange issue of appearing to be trying to connect, yet the app sees the car's location and flashes the lights. It now looks like an app issue.

On the app, go to Map, you'll see "Navigate to vehicle" and to the right of this there is a horn icon, press this and you'll see a choice of "Horn" or "Indicator" Press one and wait maybe 10 seconds and whichever selected will be activated on the car.

So if Vodafone see the car, and you can flash your indicators and set transport mode, all is OK.

I had the same issue a little while back. Try uninstalling the app from your phone, re-booting your phone and then re-installing the app. This worked for me.

Many thanks for suggesting this. The app is back and working as it should be.

Check it in a couple of days, mine reverted to spinning wheel of no connection, but is really connected.

No worries! Another thing to try, if it happens again, is to close the app and open it again immediately. I've found it often connects properly at the second attempt.
