and old clutch looked like this. You can just about see the date stamp 1997 !
compare that to the nice shiny new one
clutch fitted
you can probably see from the pics. Not great, but it's 17 years old so no suprise. Don't have the time to do anything with it. So it will stay that way for now. It's been that way for a few years i would guess and it's not urgent yet. Would be nice to remove it all clean it up and maybe powder coat it. though original is semi gloss black paint i think. For another time i think.

if youre thinking of doing the tinware let me know, we have e-coating at work and use med gloss black for all out stuff.. its quite cheap to get things done (last thing i did was a mini subframe which cost 15 quid) and it lasts ages.. I would have to check up what the deal is now as things have changed a bit with our paint plant, but i would think its still do-able and similar cost..

Cheers Ben i will bear you in mind. Won't be for sometime now though.
car now back together again with nice fresh m.o.t ready for roll cage install . And now on spare set of wheels !
back where it belongs
Finally some pics of my cage. Apologies for the poor quality pics but trying to take photo's of a black cage against black carpet ain't easy ! You will see the design is not a 100% replica of the design i wanted but rather a close copy that takes into account the detail changes i wanted, namely the car is still fully carpeted and the door bars are mounted lower to enable easy entry/exit. The cage is a full bolt in design that takes advantage of the plates already installed in the car and the tubing in the engine bay.
some more
one more till the sun come out !

i was in holland last week with work and the weather was spot on, so fingers crossed!..
Difficult to tell the difference on the road. It did feel more stable or "planted" through the corners though. I think the difference will show up more on track. just got to fit the new pads and get the toyo's fitted and maybe check the geo if I get time.
