My Turbo 2

Guest

New member
This is it I am now the proud owner of a 964 Turbo, I could not afford the big boys 3.6 so I ended up with the econamy model the 3.3. Having covered only 45k as is the norm with 911's it look more like 145k.

I need you guidance, how do I get my shabby looking carpets back to their original state and what is the best gear to restore the leather?

I look forward to hearing your advise.

Cheers

Harry,

what exactly is wrong with your carpets / interior? I would strongly recommend using Zymol products, for everything and anything relating to cleaning/maintaining/protecting your car - both inside and out. For your carpets, you can use Fabrique (mixed with some fizzy soda) - spray on the carpets, let it 'sit' for about 2-3 minutes and then brush off , followed by a thorough vacuum clean- the soda will just 'drag' everything from the carpets. Regards leather, again after a good vacuum cleaning, use the Zymol leather cleaner, followed by the Leather cream - your car will look smell and feel like new.

Email me if you need any assistance.

Once again congratulations on your purchase and Happy Porsche turbo motoring

P.S. Where are you based?

Here's what mine looked like after the above procedure!

My carpets are light grey, and looks like pile has got V dirty and matted.

Where do you get fizzy soda and what is mix?

I look forward to hearing from you

Harry

Hello Harry,

you can get soda / seltzer water from any corner shop / 7 11-type of shop. Mix analogy should be about 1:3 (Fabrique : soda water), stir to mix & then spray evenly onto carpet, let it sit for a couple of minutes, and then brush / wipe. After brushing/wiping, vacuum thoroughly to dry carpets and to remove all dirt.

Best regards

Emilios

P.S. Could you post some pics of your car's interior 'problem' areas?

Harry,

I have exactly the same problem on the light grey carpets on my 964 Turbo. I haven't tried Meguiars but I've had a go with a number of other cleaners, including Zymol Fabrique, and I still haven't managed to get them up to a decent standard.

I spoke to an owner of a 964 C2 last year who also had the same trouble with his light grey carpet. He didn't have a solution either. If you manage to get yours sorted out please post details as I'd love to know.

Regards

Duncan

Have you tried Groom? It's an aerosol fabric cleaner available in Halfords and no doubt other motorists shops and works a treat on everything I've tried it on. It even removes oil and tar with a bit of effort.

The other "wonder" product you can try is Vanish - use the Vanish bar (like a bar of soap) and work it into a god lather. This is as effective, if not more so, than Groom but a bit less convenient to use.
