MY05 18 Tyre Spec

New member
Hi been told by by OPC the the tyre spec for the new car will be:

Front 235-40 ZR18
Rear 265-40 ZR18

However I need to know a little more basically the '79V' number bit as it appears on other cars ie 205-45 R15 79V - Does this make sense?

Good question I'm just doing some planning for servicing costs etc for when my new car arrives next year & the tyre dealer has asked for the actual tyre spec to be able to quote a valid price.

[&o]How can he quote a valid price for something being required so far down the road  Example Sept 02 MCS Runflat Tyres £135.00 a corner fast forward 16 months and 2 new fronts required due to wear & tear etc £88.00 per corner!

In that case, think of about the cost of an 18" tyre 2 years ago...

Edit: Forget that - I thought you were asking about 19", not 18"...

Just give him the size you can get quotes on-line - it's not a new size.

Thanks John - I only asked a small question because I thought that's what forums where all about?

Sorry if it sounds like an odd request to you I'm just one of those people who likes to be amoured with as much info as possible.

Oh!

I just noticed it is a 18" - I was thinking 19"!

If your tyre person doesn't know the price of a 18" Porsche spec ("N" rated) tyre, then perhaps it is time to find another tyre person?
As John says, these have been around for 5 years or so...

And indeed they are - that's why I just gave you a small reply! [&:]

What's the beef?

Hi,

I currently have a TT but bought 4 x 225/40/18 Pirelli PZero Rosso N Porsche Spec for £ 100 a corner. I know the new ones are larger but.... I have found that shopping around a dozen places will give you a good idea.

If in stock usually cheaper than next day delivery.

I would estimated £150 per corner for a decent tyre make. Pirelli., Michelin etc.

Anyone know Porsche's OEM for the MY05 Boxster??

PS - Bracknell Tyre and Battery are always the cheapest in my opinion....and obviously my area (work that is not live..heaven help me!!:)

If I can use one word instead of three I usually do which can sometimes can come over a little short. I don't believe that any of the regular "sages" here believe themselves to be in anyway superior to anyone else.

I don't see any point in making things any more complicated than they need to be, whether it be a Porsche Centre technician or a Tyre Dealer who is talking crap!

In this instance I offer my apologies to Jason for overlooking the query about "79V" but as Mark pointed out the tyres destined for the new model have been around for 3 or more years and should present no issues at all to any competent tyre outlet.
