Mystery switch

On my "new" S2 there is a switch at the end of the bank of switches in front of the geralever. All the others have their pupose shown on them. This doesn't, but if you operate it when ignition is on a red led flashes adjacent to it. It doesn't seem to do anything when ignition is off.

While it is very nice to have a flashing led, surely its got another purpose. It looks like an oem fitment too.

Oh btw, the alarm led is a different one.

Anyone got an idea?

Some cars have this switch to disable the internal alarm sensors.

This way you can alarm the car with windows or sunroof open (or roof down) and the alarm will not trigger falsely

On some cars this switch appears to disable the internal alarm sensors so you can lock the car with windows open or roof down. On some cars the switch seems to do nothing. Some cars just have a blanking plate [&:]

I've got exactly the same switch which does exactly the same thing. I'm not entirely convinced it turns off the interior sensors - I'm not even convinced my car has got interior sensors. But it does do something to the flashing LED. If you ever find out for sure what it does, do let us know. [;)]

Tony has exactly that same switch on his 944 cab. If we lock the car and leave it with the roof down and the switch in the "wrong" position it howls its head off at the slightest breeze or movement or anyone passing by!!! The thing is that we can never remember which position is which[:D][:D][:D].
