Can anyone confirm how many litres the tank takes in a 996 C4S? I used to get 65 litres in my 993, however, when I fill the 996 up it only shows as roughly 55 litres!
Another niggling thing is substantial creaking from what can only be coming from the front suspension. I believe the shocks may be corroded so this could be it but I am also getting wobble on the steering wheel when braking from, say 50mph. Not sure if this is related or it could be the discs.
More importantly the creaking and the tank is a concern.
Many thanks
Seb

Can't comment on tank capacity (I've a C2), but the creaking form the front suspension is almost certainly the lower coffin arms - its a common problem - there's other threads in the forum including my own line of inquiry on this a few months back.

Various fixes from dousing with lubricant (which treats the symptom no the cause) to replacing the arms themselves - I think about £150 each plus fitting.

Cheap fix is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWbxhZzVd8M

I take it you know about the quirk of the C4S fuel gauge?

Once down to about quarter full, the computer will guess the amount of fuel left based upon recent usage due to the shape of the tank. If you have been spending a lot of time in traffic jams, the gauge will go down quickly... you may find that the tank capacity isn't an issue, it may just not be empty when it says it is.

I would be more concerned about the wobble under braking rather than the creaking or how much fuel I can get in it[;)] Sounds like worn/warped discs but could be suspension related. Trip to the car doctor recommended[:)]

Hi Seb,

It has a 64 litre tank I believe, it has what is described as a 'saddle' tank & once below the 1/4 mark needs to be filled substantially to register.....

40/50 quid

PS - I'm sure Richard will be along to give a fuller description [;)]
